Notes:
Summary Venous tone, circulatory regulation, and, simultaneously, selected data with respect to blood clotting were examined in 12 healthy young women before and during treatment with an ovulation inhibitor over a period of 2 to 3 months. During the time of use of this drug an increase of the venous vascular tone, particularly in the range of higher pressures, could be demonstrated plethysmographicly as one might expect in orthostasis. Accordingly, circulatory regulation was improved under orthostatic stress. At the other hand, the increase of activity in the overall clotting tendency is too small to account in itself significantly for the risk of a thromboembolic accident. It must be considered, however, that these investigations were carried out in persons without vascular disorders, that the period of observation was limited and, furthermore, that the ingredients of various ovulation inhibitors vary considerably qualitatively and quantitatively.
