Notes: Summary The dissection of. 48 cadaveric specimens has been compared with operative findings for a review of the shape, size and site of this gland in the adult. The structure of the thymic compartment and the relations of the thymus, particularly with the vessels of the superior mediastinum and the base of the neck, were studied. The relative positions of the inferior parathyroid glands and the thymus were identified, with respect to the influence of this topography on the surgery of these glands. The arterial suply to the thymus, which is still very abundant in the adult, presupposes a functional organ whose physiologic involution is slow.

Notes: Summary The authors report their experience based on the anatomical study of the celiac region and on the practice of abdominal multiorgan removal for transplantation. They particularly concentrate on the limits and the content of the celiac region of Luschka and particularly: the position of the celiac axis in relation to the median arcuate ligament of the diaphragm, the relations of the collateral branches of the abdominal aorta, the place being taken by the celiac plexus and its situation in relation to the left renal v. From these elements, they describe an original transplexus surgical exposure of the origins of the celiac axis and of the superior mesenteric a. They show the importance of this approach in abdominal vascular surgery and during abdominal multiorgan removal in transplantation.

Notes: Abstract Al Hasa phosphates constitute the second phosphatic deposit exploited by the Jordan phosphate Mines Company. To investigate the radioactivity of these phosphates, 13 samples of poor phosphatic rocks of an area not exploited at the present time were selected to commence with. This is not the place to discuss either the origin of phosphates in a general manner or Al Hasa phosphates in particular. The literature on the first is effectively voluminous. But as regards the latter, there is little written material. Only some short statements not surpassing the generalities are found in (Heimbach, 1962; Kemmer, 1964; Bender, 1968; Youssef et al., 1969; Reeves & Saadi, 1971). It is hoped that radioactivity studies, especially when integrated with other domains of investigation, might afford a good way of clarifying their origin. Moreover, should the occasion arise, they might serve as the beginning to researches concerning uranium recovery from these phosphates.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract It is possible to estimate Uranium moves in granitic rocks through the variations of fixed to total uranium ratio of these rocks. Some granites exhibit linear relations (r=0,99) between these two variables even for high grades: Uranium moves have been limited, if any. Granites devoid of uraniferous deposit belong to this class. Other granites do not yield such narrow linearity above 10 μg/g. This means that once local traps have been saturated they are not able to retain Uranium any more in response to driving causes (metamorphism, meteoric leaching ....). Thus non fixed or leachable uranium may have circulated and could have been concentrated in structural traps either within the granitic mother-rock or in the surrounding formations. This occurs with many uraniferous french granites. Established on more than 5 000 datas this distinction could be useful in granitic area exploration.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The poly-metallic deposit of Kowary (Poland) is formed by two types of mineralizations: 1. lenses of magnetite formed during the Caledonian orogeny, 2. more recent polymetallic mineralizations with Uranium. The geochronological study of the pitchblende by Uranium — Lead method shows that the Uranium deposit was formed at the Permian epoch of the Hercynian orogeny about 265 M. Y. ago and it has been modified during the Laramide epoch, about 70 M. Y. ago. The formation age of the Kowary deposits corresponds exactly to that of the French deposits (Limousin and Vendée).
