Notizen: Abstract A detailed similarity analysis of the incompressible radial free, wall, and luquid jets with swirl is presented. The analysis aims at a determination of the space flow geometry of the given generally formulated problems. The derived space flow geometry implies that the transformed formulations of the given problems are formally identical to those without swirl. Unlike the free jet, the wall and liquid jets with swirl are treated only for a Newtonian fluid but in this case the similarity analysis also provides the interpretation of a virtual origin.

Notizen: Abstract The similarity solution of the radial turbulent jet with weak swirl is discussed and a new solution of the radial turbulent jet with swirl is proposed without restrictions assumed in the weak swirl solution.

Notizen: Summary The problem of turbulent wall jets on bodies of revolution is investigated by means of a similarity analysis. The procedure aims to determine functional dependence of mean flow similarity scales (length and velocity scales) on a shape parameter. Discussion dealing with the applicability of the obtained results is carried out with reference to previously published ones cited in the literature.

Notizen: Summary The aim of this paper is a determinations of the space flow geometry of turbulent radial wall jet with swirl by means of a similarity analysis. It is assumed that except for a very thin layer near the wall, the flow field of the turbulent radial wall jet is similar. The wall conditions for a Newtonian fluid flow used in a paper by the present authors [11] — and satisfactory only for a laminar regime — are substituted by a suitable condition often employed in 3-D turbulent boundary layer problems. It is assumed that the direction of the shear-stress resultant is the same as the direction of the mean velocity-gradient resultant.
