    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract It is possible by attachment of a cooling trap to a heat pipe to regulate continually the heat flow by reducing or adding of transported mass. The behaviour of such a thermal triode is calculated here for a model and compared with measurements.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Durch den Anbau einer Kühlfalle an ein Wärmeleitrohr kann der Wärmestrom durch Entzug oder Zufügen von Transportmittel kontinuierlich gesteuert werden. Das Verhalten einer solchen thermischen Triode wird für ein Modell berechnet und mit Messungen verglichen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Um der oft gehörten Meinung entgegenzutreten, die energetischen Wirkungsgrade lebender Organismen seien wesentlich höher als die technischer Verfahren, werden entsprechende Werte miteinander verglichen. Der sehr niedrige Wirkungsgrad der Photosynthese zusammen mit der kleinen Energiedichte der Sonnenstrahlung erzwang ab einer kritischen Größe die Aufspaltung in Energiesammler, die Pflanzen, und Verbraucher chemischer Energie, den Tieren. Dank den 10 mal höheren Wirkungsgraden in der Technik, lassen sich “Solarmobile“ bauen, die von der auf sie fallenden Sonnenstrahlung angetrieben werden. Wegen des Multiplikationsgesetzes der Teilwirkungsgrade ergeben sich sowohl für die Speicherung der Sonnenenergie in den fossilen Brennstoffen wie in der Nahrungskette extrem niedrige Wirkungsgrade.
    Notes: Abstract One often hears the opinion, that the efficiencies in the world of life are higher than in engineering. To disprove this, many values of efficiency of corresponding processes are compared. The very low efficiency of photosynthesis in living plants together with the low density of solar radiation has led the world of life to split into collectors of energy, the plants, and consumers of chemical energy, the animals. Thanks to the ten times higher efficiencies of solar cells, it is possible, to produce “solar mobiles“, vehicles that move driven by solar radiation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Mit dem elektrolytischen Meßverfahren wurde der Umschlag laminar — turbulent bei oszillierenden und pulsierenden Rohrströmungen untersucht. Es zeigt sich, daß die kritische Reynolds-Zahl Rec bei oszillierenden Strömungen von der Schwingungsamplitude und Frequenz abhängig ist. Bei pulsierenden Strömungen kommt noch eine starke Abhängigkeit von der stationären Grundgeschwindigkeit hinzu. Es wurden Werte bis zu Re0 ≈ 15300 beobachtet.
    Notes: Abstract The transition from the laminar to the turbulent flow has been measured for oscillating and pulsating flow within a pipe by means of the electrolytic method. It has been shown, that the critical Reynolds-number Rec of the oscillating flow is dependent on the amplitude and the frequency of the oscillation. At pulsating flows there has been observed an additional dependence from the superimposed stationary flow. There have been observed values of Rec up to 15300.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract A measurement technique which does not disturb the flow characteristics is described for determining the void fraction of an adiabatic two-phase flow system. In order to employ this technique, a luminescent tracer is uniformly dispersed in the liquid phase and activated by an UV electronic flash at the beginning of the test section. A photo multiplier tube at the end of the test section is then employed to continuously record, as a function of time, the light intensity emitted by the activated tracer particles. This recorded signal, after suitable corrections, can then be employed to compute the residence time distribution of the tracer particles and thus also of the liquid flowing through the test section. From this information the mean residence time may be calculated which in turn allows the computation of the average void fraction within the test section. The approximate liquid flow character and velocity distribution may also be evaluated.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Meßmethode beschrieben, die es gestattet, ohne Störung der Strömung den mittleren volumetrischen Gasanteil einer adiabaten Zweiphasenströmung zu bestimmen. Dazu wird ein in der Kreislaufflüssigkeit dispergierter lumineszierender Indikator vor Eintritt in eine Meßstrecke durch einen UV-Blitz in wenigenμ s zum Leuchten angeregt und das am Austritt der Meßstrecke von den angeregten Teilchen emittierte Licht mit einem Photomultiplier in Abhängigkeit von der Zeit gemessen. Aus dem sich so ergebenden Antwortsignal, das nach Anbringen von Korrekturen das Verweilzeitspektrum der Indikatorteilehen bzw. der Flüssigkeit in der Meßstrecke darstellt, kann zum einen die mittlere Verweilzeit der flüssigen Phase und daraus der mittlere volumetrische Gasanteil der Zweiphasenströmung berechnet werden, zum anderen sind Aussagen über die Geschwindigkeitsverteilung der flüssigen Phase und den Charakter der Strömung möglich.
