Notes: Summary Hemolysates of erythrocytes from psoriatic subjects and normal controls were incubated with 7α-3H-DHEA in the presence of excess NADPH. The analysis of3H-labelled C19-steroids revealed that in hemolyzed erythrocytes of psoriatics the formation of ADIOL was significantly enhanced, whereas the concentrations of such 17-oxosteroids as DHEA, ADION, ANDRO, and ETIO proved to be significantly lower than in the controls. Such findings suggested an NADPH-independent increased activity of 17β-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase in erythrocytes of psoriatic subjects based on quantitative and/or qualitative alteration of the enzyme protein.
