Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Der Bericht betrifft ein Neugeborenes mit abnormalem Wachstum des Schädels.
Notes: Summary Intermittent abnormal growth rate of the head was observed in an infant. Air studies revealed the presence of a cisterna veli interpositi with a typical connection into the cisterna venae magnae Galeni. Two months later another air study (pneumoencephalogram) revealed the lateral ventricles to be slightly larger and an increased distance between the roof of the third ventricle and the floor of the lateral ventricles with an abnormally wide distance between the lateral ventricles. No air filled the area of the previously shown cisterna veli interpositi. A transformation of the cisterna veli interpositi into a cyst was postulated and verified at surgery. The intermittency of symptoms was explained by a ball-valve type of connection between the cisterna veli interpositi and the cisterna venae magnae Galeni. The possible reason for the final obliteration of the outlet of the cisterna was discussed and also its therapy.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Anatomie, radiographische Darstellung und pathologische Bedeutung der tentoriellen Arterie, die ein Ast der kavernösen Verlaufsstrecke der A. carotis interna ist, werden besprochen.
Notes: Summary The anatomy, radiographic visualization and pathological significance of the tentorial artery, which is a branch of the cavernous portion of the internal carotid artery, is discussed. Eighteen patients with an enlarged tentorial artery are described. The diagnoses in these patients were almost equally divided among tentorial meningiomas (4), malignant gliomas (6) and arteriovenous malformations (4). In addition there was a single case in which this vessel fed an acoustic neuroma; this relationship has not been previously reported. In three cases the enlarged artery was not recognizably related to the lesion present.

Notes: Summary With the introduction of additional diagnostic methods, computerized axial tomography, interventricular tumors are discovered at a time when these lesions are still small and may have presented very insignificant or no clinical symptoms. If the lesion is a benign tumor as a meningioma and within the lateral ventricle of the dominant hemisphere a very difficult problem presents itself to the patient and surgeon. Shall they wait until the tumor reaches such a size to make more permanent symptoms to justify entering the ventricle by the conventional approach through the middle temporal gyrus and leaving the patient at least with a visual field defect? Or should surgery be postponed until the ventricle especially the temporal home is enlarged due to blockage by the tumor, making the operative procedure technically easier? The authors present a method used in three atrial trigonal meningiomas of the dominant hemisphere which did not result in any neurological deficit which was not present before surgery and which abolished paroxysmal attacks of hemianopsia and severe headaches in one patient. The latter patient was believed to have suffered from migraine for 2 1/2 years.
