Description / Table of Contents:
Abstract:
Notes:
Summary The anatomy, radiographic visualization and pathological significance of the tentorial artery, which is a branch of the cavernous portion of the internal carotid artery, is discussed. Eighteen patients with an enlarged tentorial artery are described. The diagnoses in these patients were almost equally divided among tentorial meningiomas (4), malignant gliomas (6) and arteriovenous malformations (4). In addition there was a single case in which this vessel fed an acoustic neuroma; this relationship has not been previously reported. In three cases the enlarged artery was not recognizably related to the lesion present.
