Abstract A study has been made of a series of alloys centred on the composition 77 wt % nickel, 14 wt % iron, 5 wt % copper, 4 wt % molybdenum, in which the nickel-to-iron ratio has been varied. Measurements of electrical resistivity and magnetostriction show significant changes after heat treatment. These are ascribed to the formation of local atomic order. No definite evidence for long-range ordering has been observed.
