    Description / Table of Contents: Übersicht Die Schwingungen versteifter Sektorplatten werden mittels der Spline-Element-Methode untersucht. Die Platte wird als ein System von Sektorplatte und gebogenen Trägern idealisiert. An Zahlenbeispielen wird gezeigt, daß bezüglich der üblichen analytischen Methode und numerischen Methoden die genaue Lösung erhalten wird. Der Effekt versteifender, gebogener Träger auf die Frequenzen wird untersucht.
    Notes: Summary Vibrations of a stiffened annular sector plate with arbitrary boundary conditions are analysed using the spline element method. The plate is idealized as a system of an annular sector plate and curved beams rigidly connected to each other. To demonstrate the accuracy of the present method several examples are solved, and the results are compared with those obtained analytically and by other numerical methods. Good accuracy is obtained. The effect of stiffening beams on the frequencies of stiffened annular sector plates is also investigated.

    Notes: A discrete approach using the B-spline functions and the concept of the point least square is presented. The general procedure, in which trial functions satisfy neither governing differential equations nor boundary conditions, is used in solving solid mechanics problems. No numerical integration is required in the formulation and the resulting matrix has the advantage of always being symmetrical.To demonstrate the accuracy and versatility of the present method, vibration of beams, skew plate problems, thick plates and a non-self-adjoint problem are analysed. A good accuracy is obtained with increase in the number of fitting points and of knots of B-spline functions.

    Notes: The paper presents an application of the spline prism method to analyse vibration of isotropic, thick rectangular plates with two opposite edges simply supported. Three-dimensional spline prism models are formulated by combining B-spline functions with beam eigenfunctions. Because of the orthogonality of the beam functions, three-dimensional problems are reduced to a series of two-dimensional ones. To demonstrate the accuracy and convergence of the semi-numerical method, the results are compared with those obtained by other numerical methods. Good convergence and accuracy are obtained. The effects of the ratio of thickness to width and the aspect ratio on the frequencies of thick rectangular plates with several boundary conditions are analysed, and the results are compared with those calculated by the Mindlin plate theory.

    Notes: This paper presents a general procedure for calculating the buckling of stiffened skew plates by the Rayleigh-Ritz method with B-spline functions as co-ordinate functions.Convergence of the solutions is investigated in a few typical cases and is found satisfactory. The results are compared with existing values based on other numerical methods and found to be in good agreement. Buckling characteristics of stiffened skew plates are also studies with varying stiffness parameters of stiffeners, skew angles and aspect ratios.
