Summary 1. Feasibility has been demonstrated for treating paraffin waxes by extraction with selective solvents. 2. Critical solution temperatures have been determined for diethylene glycol, dimethylformamide, N-meth-ylpyrrolidone, morpholine, phenol, triethylene glycol, and dimethylacetamide with paraffin waxes. 3. Optimal conditions have been determined for treating the waxes with diethylene glycol. 4. It has been shown that with a contact time of 15 min, solvent ratios from 0.3∶1 to 1∶1, and treating temperatures from 65 to 90°C, paraffin waxes can be obtained with color, light stability, and odor that meet the specification requirements of GOST 16960-71.
