    Description / Table of Contents: Summary After the discussion of the different methods for obtaining leucocytes and lymphocytes a method is described concerning the pure isolation of lymphocytes out of the blood of humans, horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and dogs. The method is based on the different specific weights of the blood cells. Jodamid and jodamid-compounds were used for this purpose. The X-ray-contrast media Uromiro-300 and Uromiro-380 containing both jodamid turned out to be especially effective.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Nach Diskussion der verschiedenen Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Leukozyten und Lymphozyten wird eine Methode für die Reinisolierung von Lymphozyten aus dem Blut von Mensch, Pferd, Rind, Schaf, Schwein und Hund beschrieben. Die Methode beruht auf den unterschiedlichen spezifischen Gewichten der Blutzellen, wobei Jodamid und jodamidhaltige Präparate Verwendung finden. Bei den Untersuchungen haben sich besonders die jodamidhaltigen Röntgenkontrastmittel “Uromiro-300” und “Uromiro-380” bewährt.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen an Trichomonas fetus sowie Bakterien mit starker Beweglichkeit lassen es wahrscheinlich erscheinen, daß bei der Makroorganismenzelle und der Mikroorganismenzelle ein- und dasselbe funktionelle Prinzip zur Einleitung und Aufrechterhaltung einer Bewegung wirksam ist, die Bereitstellung von ATP als Längenänderungssubstanz. Nach Blockierung dieser Reaktion erlischt nach kurzer Übergangszeit, während der das restliche ATP verbraucht wird, jede Bewegung. Bilamid und Cealysin entfalten sinngemäß eine der Klasse der Mercaptide gleichzusetzende Wirkung auf den Bewegungsapparat der Mikroorganismen und interferieren sehr wahrscheinlich mit der in Abhängigkeit von der Verfügbarkeit von SH-Gruppen ablaufenden enzymatisch gesteuerten Bereitstellung von ATP, möglicherweise mit der ATP-ase.

    Notes: Genetically determined Con-A receptors were found to be present on erythrocyte membranes of sheep and goat. A two allelic system Con-A and con-a could be demonstrated. Con-A receptors are also detectable on membranes of sheep lymphocytes, as well as on pig lymphocytes and granulocytes.

    Notes: One hundred and twelve pig sera were screened for their inhibitory properties to cytolytic reactions of eighteen reagents obtained after skin grafting. All of the tested pig sera discriminately inhibited the cytotoxicity of various reagents, which clearly demonstrated that the inhibitions are of defined specificities. This could be confirmed in pig families. In a number of instances serum contained inhibitors of such specificities that were not detectable on the lymphocyte membrane of the animal the serum was taken from. The aim of this study was not to identify the specificities involved. Nevertheless the SL-A3 specificity was observed in serum of eighty-four out of 112 animals, whereby the SL-A3 antigen was detectable on the lymphocyte membrane of only fourteen of those animals. The occurrence of histocompatibility inhibitors in serum of pigs is of importance in experimental organ grafting and in immunizations of animals when reagents of certain specificities are attempted to be produced. Granulocytes appear also to be furnished with cell bound histocompatibility antigens.

    Notes: PGM3 activity was investigated in 150 ‘Boerbok’ goats and 132 Angora goats by means of horizontal starch gel electrophoresis. In ‘Boerbok’ goats no polymorphism was found. In Angora goats three different phenotypes have been recognized: F, S, and FS. The results suggest the occurrence of two common alleles: PGM3-F and PGM3-S at an autosomal locus with frequencies of 0.6176 and 0.3824, respectively.
