Conclusions 1. Study of the protective properties of oils MVP, AS-6, and their fractions in a humidity chamber, in sea water, in a chamber with SO2, and by electrochemical methods, showed that pure oil films do not protect metal against electrochemical corrosion and they have no noticeable polarization resistance. 2. The addition of low-solubility corrosion inhibitors to mineral oils greatly increases the ohmic and parparticularly the polarization resistance of the films and significantly improves the protective properties of the oils. 3. Mineral oils cannot displace water from metal surfaces. The addition of low-solubility corrosion inhibitors enables the oil to displace water from metal surfaces.
