The magnetic properties and the specific heat of sulfur nonstochiometric CuIr2S4+x (x=−0.1, 0.0, and 0.1) were investigated. The transition temperatures on cooling (Tcool) were 209.6, 206.7, and 218 K, whereas on warming (Twarm) they were 218, 218.3, and 226.7 K, respectively. The change in entropy at the transition temperatures (Twarm) of the x=0.1 and x=0.0 samples were 0.90 and 0.54 J/mol K, respectively. © 1997 American Institute of Physics.
