Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Sono state determinate le sezioni d’urto doppie differenziali assolute per la ionizzazione del bersaglio e la perdita dell’elettrone proiettile in collisioni di ioni H+, H 2 + ,3He+ e3He++ (da 0.4 a 2.0 Me V/u) con bersagli di gas He e Ar ad angoli di emissione degli elettroni da 0° a 60°.
Notes: Summary Absolute double differential cross-sections for target ionization and projectile electron loss were determined in collisions of H+, H2 +,3He+ and3He++ ions (0.4 to 2.0 Me V/u) with He and Ar gas targets at electron emission angles from 0° up to 60°. The experimental results are qualitatively well described by plane-wave Born approximations including screening of the projectile in target ionization and of the target atom in the case of electron loss.

Notes: [Auszug] Our experiments were carried out on six dogs. Under 'evipan' -anaesthesia we isolated the thoracic duct, the cervical lymph ducts and the lymph duct running along the vena portse, and gathered lymph through cannulse. At the same time, we drew blood from the jugular vein and from the portal vein ...

Notes: Summary The conditional Jordan-von Neumann functional equation for a mappingG: (X, +, ⊥) → (Y, +), that is,G(x + y) + G(x−y) = 2G(x) + 2G(y) for allx, y ∈ X withx ⊥ y, was first studied by Vajzović in 1966. He gave the general form of the continuous scalar valued solutions of (*) on a Hibert space with its natural orthogonality. Later his result was generalized toA-orthogo-nalities on a Hilbert space, which satisfyx ⊥ A y ⇔〈Ax, y〉 = 0 whereA is a selfadjoint operator. In particular, Drljević in 1986 determined the continuous scalar valued solutions and recently Fochi showed that theA-orthogonally quadratic functionals are exactly the quadratic ones. Here we further generalize their results to a symmetric orthogonality induced by a sesquilinear form on a vector space and for arbitrary mappings with values in an abelian group. The main result states that such a mapping can satisfy (*) only if it is quadratic. In the proof extensive use is made of the theory of sesquilinear-orthogonally additive mappings as developed in an earlier paper of ours. The above mentioned results are valid only for the cases of dimension ⩾ 3 and a 2-dimensional counter example is presented. Finally, an interesting concept of orthogonality is suggested for possible future investigation.

Notes: Summary The conditional Cauchy functional equation for a mappingF: (X, +, ⊥) → (Y, +), i.e.,F(x + y) = F(x) + F(y) for allx, y ∈ X withx ⊥ y, (*) on a real vector space equipped with an abstract relation ⊥ (calledorthogonality), was first studied by Gudder and Strawther in 1975. They defined ⊥ by a system consisting of five axioms and described the general hemi-continuous real valued solution of (*) showing that the existence of non-trivial even ones characterize inner product orthogonality. Using the more restrictive axioms of Rätz (introduced in 1980 to obtain the general solution without regularity conditions: odd solutions are additive, while the even ones are quadratic), recently we have proved the same assuming arbitrary mappingsF with values in an abelian group but for dimX ⩾ 3. In 1989, Rätz and the author modified the system of axioms so that it should include the orthogonality induced by an isotropic symmetric bilinear form ϕ and still ensure the additive/quadratic representation. In this context, the main purpose of this note is to characterize on a real vector space the symmetric bilinear orthogonality ⊥ϕ as the essentially unique extension of an orthogonality relation satisfying certain weak axioms and admitting non-trivial even hemi-continuous solutions of (*) with values in a Hausdorff topological abelian group.

Notes: Summary The conditional Cauchy functional equationF: (X, +, ⊥) → (Y, +), F(x + y) = F(x) + F(y) x, y ∈ X, x ⊥ y, has first been studied under regularity (mainly continuity and boundedness) conditions and by referring to the inner product and the Birkhoff—James orthogonalities (A. Pinsker 1938, K. Sundaresan 1972, S. Gudder and D. Strawther 1975). The latter authors proposed an axiomatic framework for the space (X, +, ⊥), and it then became possible to modify their axioms so that it could be proved without any regularity condition that the odd solutions of (*) are additive and the even ones are quadratic (cf., e.g., ([8], [12]). The results obtained included the classical case of the inner product orthogonality as well as the three following generalizations thereof: (i) Birkhoff—James orthogonality on a normed space, (ii) orthogonality induced by a non-isotropic sesquilinear functional, (iii) semi-inner product orthogonality. Making a further step in the modifications of the axioms for the space (X, +, ⊥), the additive/quadratic representation of the solutions of (*) now can be proved in a much more general situation which includes also the case of the orthogonality induced by an isotropic symmetric bilinear functional.

Notes: Summary In normal conditions and after renal ischaemia the distribution pattern of lactate dehydrogenase isoenzymes is closely similar in capsular and hilar renal lymph. This is interpreted as a sign of a predominantly cortical origin of both lymph samples.

Notes: Abstract Auger electrons of beam-foil excited C-projectiles and C-fragments of Coulomb exploding molecular CO-projectiles at 83 keV/u yield information on the excitation mechanisms and the interaction with the solid. A numerical procedure is developed to calculate the mean energy of the Coulomb explosion, the charge states of the fragment ions and their angular straggling behaviour inside the solid. The calculated results are compared with experimental data. From a detailed line shape calculation the magnitude of directional effects induced by the Wake-potential can be predicted.
