    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein empfindliches und spezifisches spektrophotometrisches Verfahren für die Bestimmung von Mikrogrammengen Thallium in Geweben und Körperflüssigkeiten wurde beschrieben. Das Untersuchungsmaterial wird naß verascht, Thallium wird als Chlorid mit Äther extrahiert und schließlich zu Thallium(I)dithizonat umgesetzt. Die Arbeitsbedingungen wurden angegeben und verschiedene Resultate mitgeteilt.
    Notes: Summary A sensitive and specific Spectrophotometric technique for the determination of microgram amounts of thallium in autopsy tissues and body fluids is described. The material is subjected to wet combustion, extraction of thallium as thallic chloride with ether, and finally the formation of thallium(I) dithizonate. The optimum conditions are given and the amount of thallium found in different autopsy tissues and urine recorded.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein dünnschichtchromatographisches, für forensische Zwecke geeignetes Verfahren zur Trennung und Identifizierung der Extrakte aus Blüten-kronen und Harz von Hanfpflanzen sowie von RückstÄnden aus Haschisch-pfeifen wurde angegeben. Auf Aluminiumoxid wird mit Benzol-Chloroform (1 ∶ 1 v/v) das Chromatogramm entwickelt, womit eine gute Trennung der Haschisch-Komponenten erzielt wird. Im UV-Licht (254 nm) werden die Flecken mit Schnellblau B sichtbar gemacht. Die Rf-Werte und die Farbe der Flecken der aufgetrennten Bestandteile wurden angeführt.
    Notes: Summary A TLC technique convenient for forensic analysis has been described for the separation and identification of the extracts of the plant flowering tops and the resin of cannabis as well as from the residues of smoking-pipes. Alumina plates developed by benzene-chloroform (1∶1 v/v) gave good separation of the components of hashish. Ultraviolet light (254 nm) and Fast-Blue-B chromogenic reagent were used for the location of the spots. The R f values and the colours of the spots of the separated components are recorded.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Auf mit Silbernitratlösung imprägniertem Kieselgel G konnten dünn-schichtchromatographisch fünf Isomere aus technischem Hexachlorbenzol erfolgreich getrennt werden. Dasγ-Isomere wurde mit Hilfe einer Vergleichsprobe identifiziert. Die Planimetrie der Flecken eignet sich zur Schätzung von 5–20 μgγ-Hexachlorbenzol. Die Methode wurde zur Untersuchung von Autopsieproben angewendet. Die Nachweisgrenze beträgt 0,1μg.
    Notes: Summary Five isomers present in technical benzene hexachloride were successfully separated by TLC on silica-gel G impregnated with silver nitrate solution. The γ-isomer was identified by running a control sample of γ-BHC. Measurement of the spot area was found suitable for the estimation of 5–20μg ofγ-BHC, and was applied to analysis of autopsy tissues. The limit of identification is 0.1μg.

    Notes: Abstract Directional solidification of the Soviet superalloy, ZHS6-K, has been carried out in an argon atmosphere. Tensile and stress-rupture properties have been measured for the investment cast and directionally solidified (DS) alloy. The DS alloy shows a several fold increase in rupture life and ductility compared with the investment cast alloy It also shows improved tensile properties. Stress-rupture and tensile fracture behaviour has been examined.

    Notes: Abstract Tracer diffusion of carbon in iron—vanadium alloys containing 2.45, 0.5 and 0.1 at% vanadium has been measured in a temperature range from 900 to 1325 K. No effect of magnetic transforms is observed on the C14 diffusivity in the α-stabilized Fe-2.4 at% V alloy, as has been reported for α-iron. Trapping behaviour of vanadium in slowing down the carbon diffusivity in iron shows a reasonable fit with the model predicted by Koiwa. However, the effect of these traps appears not to be felt during lowtemperature internal friction measurements in Fe-2.4 at% V alloy.

    Notes: Abstract El-929, a high performance Soviet nickel-base wrought superalloy having the composition, Ni-14Co-10Cr-5W-4Mo-4Al-2Ti-0.5V-0.1C-0.02B (wt %) was prepared by vacuum induction melting and vacuum arc refining. The ingots were homogenized and hammer forged. The microstructural inhomogeneities in the forged product were examined. Tensile and stress-rupture properties, and fracture behaviour were observed to vary between the central and the outer portion of the forged stock.

    Notes: Abstract Directional solidification of the nickel-based superalloy El-929 was carried out by employing the exothermic technique for preparing several 150mm long × 55mm diameter rods. Specimens machined from the blanks cut at 0°, 45°, 75° and 90° to the chill surface were tensile and stress-rupture tested at different temperatures. The air-melted DS alloy, when loaded parallel to the growth direction, shows considerable improvement in stress-rupture life and tensile ductility as compared with the vacuum induction melted, forged and heat-treated alloy. However, these property advantages rapidly degrade with the increasing deviation of the load axis from the growth direction.
