    Notes: Abstract Certain phenomenological equations of dissipative quantum theory such as the Caldirola-Kanai equation or Kostin's nonlinear Schrödinger-Langevin equation are considered in the framework of Lagrangian field theory. The role of the Schrödinger quantization procedure in connection with the construction of variational principles for these equations is scrutinized. It is pointed out that incorrect Lagrangians for linearly damped systems have repeatedly been used in the literature. This has led to a considerable amount of confusion and contradictory results. It is demonstrated how a proper use of Schrödinger-quantization yields a correct Lagrangian description — in particular of Kostin's Schrödinger-Langevin equation-whose properties and implications are then investigated. The paper also deals with an application of Noether's theorem, contains some remarks about the introduction of external magnetic fields and points out an analogy in classical hydrodynamics.

    Notes: Abstract We consider one-dimensional quantum many-body systems with pair interactions in external fields and (re)investigate the conditions under which exact ground-state wave functions of product type can be found. Contrary to a claim in the literature that an exhaustive list of such systems is already known, we show that this list can still be enlarged considerably. In particular, we are able to calculate exact ground-state wave functions for a class of quantum many-body systems with Ax −2+Bx 2 interaction potentials and external potentials given by sixth-order polynomials.

    Notes: Abstract It is argued that the up to now only existing expression for the microscopic stress tensor in the presence of many-body interactions, while being formally acceptable, displays some physical shortcomings. These unpleasant features are remedied by explicitly constructing and symmetrizing a new stress tensor field. With the help of this construction, some recent results on the appearance of extremely long-ranged correlations involving the stress tensor field in systems with spontaneously broken symmetries are generalized.
