Description / Table of Contents: Catalysis by Phthalocyanines, XXII . - Influence of Solvent on the Decomposition of 7-Cumyl Hydroperoxide in the Presence of Cobalt PhthalocyanineThe decomposition of 7-cumyl hydroperoxide (CHP) in the presence of cobalt phthalo- cyanine (Co-pc) in the solvent systems decalin/l -chloronaphthalene and m-chlorotoluene/ 1-chloronaphthalene follows second order kinetics in the absence of N-(2-naphthyl)aniline (NA), but first order kinetics in the presence of the inhibitor. The rate constants and the ratio of molecular decay to decomposition into free radicals depends on the composition of the solvent systems. - The products arising from N-(2-naphthyl)aniline are isolated and their influence on the reaction is studied. - The mechanism of the decomposition of 7-cumyl hydroperoxide is discussed.
