    Notizen: Ab initio molecular orbital–configuration-interaction (CI) calculations at full valence CI level as well as at the SDTQ-CI level on valence and Rydberg MOs were carried out on the potential energy hypersurfaces in the lower singlet states along one probable reaction path of the decomposition from SiH4 to 2SiH+2H+1H2. The result shows that there exists a one-step decomposition route which forms the radiative species SiH*(A 2Δ) from SiH4 spontaneously. The adiabatic potential energy hypersurfaces following the reaction path explain straightforwardly various observations in the plasma- and photo-CVD experiments of SiH4. The generation routes of SiH in other lower excited states were also clarified.

    Notizen: 1. The aim of the present study was to determine whether the steady state NOx concentration reflects NOx formation in vivo.2. A NO3– load study was performed after achieving NOx steady state. Chronological changes in NOx concentrations in plasma and whole blood samples from nine healthy subjects were determined by the HPLC–Griess system and NOx concentrations in erythrocytes were estimated as a possible NOx compartment influential in regulating plasma NOx concentrations.3. Analysis was performed using the first-order one-compartment open model and the NOx formation rate was subsequently calculated.4. The mean (±SEM) steady state NOx concentration of plasma (15.5 ± 1.6 µmol/L), whole blood (12.8 ± 1.2 µmol/L) and erythrocytes (11.9 ± 0.7 µmol/L) did not correlate with the NOx formation rate in the compartments (0.50 ± 0.05, 0.61 ± 0.04 and 0.91 ± 0.17 µmol/kg per h, respectively), whereas a significant correlation was found between the steady state NOx concentration and NOx elimination rate (Kel) in plasma (r = −0.69; P = 0.04) and whole blood (r = −0.79; P = 0.01).5. Although there was no direct correlation between steady state NOx concentrations and serum creatinine levels, the correlation between half-life and serum creatinine levels was significant (plasma: r = 0.60, P = 0.02; whole blood: r = 0.49, P = 0.04).6. Plasma NOx concentrations correlated significantly with erythrocyte NOx concentrations (r = 0.92, P 〈 0.01; erythrocyte NOx = 0.66 × plasma NOx).7. The results of the present study indicate that NOx does not accumulate excessively into erythrocytes at steady state and during a NO3– load and that the steady state NOx concentration in whole blood and plasma preferentially implies NOx elimination (mainly depending on renal function) rather than NOx formation.

    Notizen: Abstract. Immunohistochemical properties of monoclonal antibodies raised against the rat vomeronasal epithelium were examined in adult rats. Three monoclonal antibodies, VOBM1, VOBM2, and VOM2, reacted specifically to the luminal surface of the sensory epithelium of the vomeronasal organ. In addition, the reactivities of VOBM1 and VOBM2 were detected in the vomeronasal nerve layer and the glomerular layer of the accessory olfactory bulb. Electron-microscopic study revealed differential patterns of the immunoreactivity of the three antibodies to the microvilli of vomeronasal sensory epithelium. VOBM1 immunoreactivity was found on the microvilli of the supporting cells, whereas VOBM2 immunoreactivity was found on those of the sensory cells. VOM2 immunoreactivity was observed on the microvilli of both the sensory and supporting cells. These results suggest that the three antibodies recognize different antigens on the vomeronasal sensory epithelium. In particular, VOBM2 antibody appears to react to an antigen specific to the microvilli of the vomeronasal sensory cells.

    Notizen: Abstract We have shown that an acidic glycoprotein (SAGP) isolated from a cell-free extract ofStreptococcus pyogenes (Su strain) prolonged the life-span of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC)bearing mice. The present study shows that the life-span prolonging effect of SAGP in EAC-bearing mice was reduced by whole body X-irradiation before EAC inoculation. SAGP (500μg protein/mouse/day X 4, i.p.) also showed a life-span prolonging effect (T/C (%) = 169) on Meth A fibrosarcoma (Meth A)-bearing mice, but the effect of SAGP was abrogated by an i.p. pretreatment of the host with carrageenan, an antimacrophage agent. The spleen cells from the Meth A-inoculated and SAGP-treated mice were found to have a considerable cytostatic activity by a3H-thymidine incorporation assay. But the activity disappeared in the presence of carrageenan. These results suggest that thein vivo antitumor effects of SAGP are mediated through its immunomodulating action.
