Notizen: Bloch line (BL) propagation with a field-access scheme is necessary for the memory with low power consumption and high storage density. Previously we reported the field-access propagation using Co-Pt bit patterns.1 In these propagation patterns, (a) the drive field margins depend on the BL propagating direction to the magnetized direction of Co-Pt patterns and (b) the operating bias field margins are different at each corner of the stripe domain. The purpose of this paper is to solve these two problems. A new propagation method has been investigated using film thickness modulation patterns.2 The materials used here were magnetic bubble garnet films with composition of (YSmLuCa)3(FeGe)5O12. Fundamental characteristics of the samples are as follows: saturation induction 4πMs 200 G, anisotropy field Hk 1700 Oe, stripe width w and thickness h 5 μm. The thickness modulation patterns with an amplitude of about 1000 A were fabricated with the ion milling method. The stripe domains were stabilized around the 100% etched grooves, and aligned with 18 μm period. BL pair was propagated in the all part of the stripe domain walls at 500 kHz frequency, applying the triangular bias pulsed field with 50 ns rise time and 1000 ns fall time. As the result of the experiments, it has been found that the drive field margins are independent of BL propagation direction and the difference in the operating bias field margins at the each corner of the stripe domain becomes smaller. The BL propagation around the stripe domain was achieved with 5% bias field margin at the drive field of 8.5 Oe.

Notizen: Summary Inhibitory mechanisms of erythropoiesis in 20 patients with pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) were investigated using the technique of in vitro hematopoiesis and an assay for human parvovirus. Complement-dependent serum inhibitors against late erythroid progenitors (CFU-E) were demonstrated in seven of 19 patients examined, and complement-dependent inhibitors against early erythroid progenitors (BFU-E) were demonstrated in three of these seven patients. Nonspecific and complement-independent inhibitors against CFU-E were thought to be associated with the etiology of PRCA in one patient. Human parvovirus-mediated erythropoietic suppression was demonstrated in a patient with complete remission of acute lymphoblastic leukemia complicated with marrow erythroid aplasia, whose serum showed a perfect inhibition against erythroid progenitor cells. T-cell-mediated erythroid suppression was not demonstrated in the patients examined. These findings reveal that erythroid aplasia is associated with complement-dependent serum erythropoietic inhibitor in some patients (36.8% in the present study) with PRCA, but it is difficult to identify the mechanism of erythroid aplasia in more than half of the patients with PRCA. In addition, our present study discovered the presence of parvovirus-mediated marrow pure red cell aplasia in one adult patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Schlagwort(e): end-systolicpressure-volume relationship ; ventricular interaction ; systemicvascular resistance ; rightventricular volume ; rightventricular shortening

Notizen: Summary It has been reported that left ventricular end-systolic volume decreases during arteriovenous shunt and increases during subclavian artery-left atrium shunt at a constant end-systolic pressure. The mechanism of the opposing changes in end-systolic volume during the two types of shunt is not clear. One possible cause is that left ventricular pump function with enhanced right ventricular ejection differs from that without enhancement. To investigate this hypothesis, we studied the two types of shunt (Aorto-femoral vein shunt, AoFV; aorto-left atrium shunt, AoLA) with matched reduction of systemic vascular resistance in open-chest dogs with β-blockade. Both right and left ventricular volumes and shortenings were assessed from short-axis views by two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiogram. Left ventricular end-systolic short-axis area decreased from 76 ± 3 to 62 ± 3% in AoFV shunt (p 〈 0.05), but tended to increase in AoLA shunt (76 ± 4 in control state vs 81 ± 5% in AoLA, NS) in spite of a similar reduction in left ventricular end-systolic pressure. There was no difference in left ventricular shortening, but significant differences were observed in right ventricular shortening (50 ± 8 in AoFV vs 24 ± 7% in AoLA, p 〈 0.05) and right ventricular short-axis area at end-diastole (142 ± 6 in AoFV vs 96 ± 3% in AoLA, p 〈 0.01), and at end-systole (92 ± 8 in AoFV vs 73 ± 7% in AoLA, p 〈 0.05) between the two types of shunt. We conclude that the different changes in left ventricular end-systolic short-axis area found in the two shunts are not caused by the different left ventricular shortenings, but by the different right ventricular mechanical actions. These findings suggest that left ventricular pumping action in the high output state changes, depending on whether it is accompanied by augmented ejection of the right ventricle or not.

Notizen: Summary The reduced latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap is a recently reported flap, consisting of a proximal musculocutaneous unit and a distal, thin fasciocutaneous or cutaneous unit. It can be used to obtain satisfactory contour of the recipient site. In cases where a larger and thinner flap is required, we employ pretransfer tissue expansion of the reduced latissimus dorsi flap. Application of the tissue expander appears to increase both the area and the vascularity of the flap. We have so far employed two pedicled and four free-expanded reduced latissimus dorsi flaps in the repair of a variety of defects. All of these flaps survived, and suitable contour, along with primary closure of the donor site, was obtained.
