    Notizen: Histone and casein phosphoprotein-kinase activities were determined in rat brain soluble fraction at various stages of development.Cyclic AMP-independent or basal histone kinase activity increased, whereas cyclic AMP-dependent activity decreased in whole soluble fraction with the age. On the contrary, whole soluble cyclic AMP-dependent and -independent casein kinases activities did not show any difference during development.The percentage of activation by cyclic AMP of histone kinase activity and [3H] cyclic-AMP binding activity in the soluble fraction decreased markedly during development.By DEAE-cellulose chromatography the histone kinase was separated mainly into 4 peaks; the fourth peak was strongly stimulated by cyclic AMP. Stimulation by cyclic AMP was higher in the 4-day-old rat brains than in the 9- and 30-day-old. In the 9-day-old rats the ratio of cyclic AMP-dependent histone kinase in respect to the cyclic AMP-independent enzyme was higher than in 4- and 30-day-old rats.Casein kinase activities in the brains of 9- and 30-day-old rats were separated by DEAE-cellulose chromatography into three peaks of which the third one was stimulated by cyclic AMP. Little, if any, difference was observed for casein kinase during the development. These results suggest that brain histone and casein kinase are different enzymes:

    Notizen: Abstract TiC x N y mono- and TiCx-TiN double-layer films with a thickness of 30 to 100 μm were prepared on a carbon steel (C: 0.6 to 0.7%) substrate by CVD in an ultrasonic field (ultrasound frequency: 19kHz; power: 10 to 20Wcm−2). The moderate deposition conditions for obtaining an adherent and thick film of TiC x N y were: substrate temperature: 1050° C; H2, N2, TiCl4 and CH4 flow rates: 6.2, 4.0, 0.9 and 0.26 to 2.0 ml sec−1, respectively. The growth rate, grain size and degree of 〈2 2 0〉 preferred orientation were found to decrease with increase in CH4 concentration. TiC x N y film on carbon steel had a Vickers microhardness of 1800 to 2600 and an adhesion strength to the substrate of more than 120 kg cm−2. A TiC x -TiN (x∼0.5) double-layer film was obtained at 1050° C by a controlled alternative deposition of TiC x or TiN. Quasiepitaxial growth of crystallites in the double layers was found to prevail in both coatings of TiC x (220)/TiN (220)/steel and TiN (200)/TiCx (200)/steel.

    Notizen: Abstract The ionic conduction in sintered Bi2O2-Y2O3 was investigated by measuring the conductivity and the emf of an oxygen concentration cell using the specimen tablet as electrolyte. The face centred cubic phase in this system was found to show high oxide ion conduction accompanied by a little electronic conduction when exposed to air. This phase was stable with a composition of 25 ∼ 43 mol % Y2O3 over a wide range of temperatures, and the oxide ion conductivity increased with decrease in Y2O3. The conductivities of (Bi2O3)0.75 (Y2O3)0.25 were 1.6×10−1 Ω−1 cm−1 at 700°C and 1.2×10−2 Ω−1 cm−1 at 500°C values which are many times higher than those of stabilized zirconia (ZrO2)0.90(Y2O3)0.10 at corresponding temperatures. Specimens containing less than 25 mol % Y2O3 showed a phase transition at 700 ∼ 580°C and the conductivities decreased remarkably below these temperatures. High oxide ion conduction in the fcc phase is attributed to the migration of oxide ion vacancies which were present in an appreciable amount.

    Notizen: Abstract A solid electrolyte cell has been developed using a high copper ion conductivity solid electrolyte, 7CuBr·C6H12N4CH3Br, a copper anode, and a chalcogen cathode. The open-circuit voltages of the cells with sulphur, selenium, and tellurium as cathode materials were 0·448, 0·373, and 0·258 V, respectively, at 25° C. These cells yielded a current of several tens of microamperes at room temperature and several milliamperes at 114° C without appreciable polarization. An energy density of 4.5 Wh kg−1 at room temperature was evaluated from the weights of the electrolyte and electrode materials for the cell using a selenium cathode in the discharge current density range 60–150μA cm−2.

    Notizen: Abstract In order to examine the conduction behaviour in the sintered oxides of MoO3-doped Bi2O3, the electrical conductivity in air and the EMF of oxygen gas concentration cell were measured with respect to the phase relation determined by X-ray diffraction. The tetragonal single phase oxide containing 22 mol% MoO3 was found to be a high oxide ion conductor, the conductivity of which was comparable to those of stabilized zirconias. The partial electronic conduction in this phase was negligibly small at relatively high oxygen pressure. The oxide ion conduction was considered to be attributable to an appreciable amount of oxygen vacancies present in the crystal. In the monoclinic compound 3Bi2O3·2MoO3, the oxide ion conduction was also observed. Although the conductivity of this phase was somewhat lower than that of the tetragonal phase, the activation energy for conduction (53·5 kJ mol−1) was much lower than the values for usual oxide ion conductors.
