    Notizen: Reflectivity spectra in the reststrahlen region (100–250 cm−1) are presented for bulk zinc blende Cd1−xMnxTe crystals at 2, 50, and 300 K and for x=0 to 0.64, covering nearly the entire possible composition range for cubic structure. Kramers-Kronig analysis gives the transverse and longitudinal phonon frequencies. The Lorentz model confirms these results and also gives mode strengths and damping constants. Compositional dependence of the phonon energies is predicted by the random element isodisplacement model.

    Notizen: Absorptivity spectra are presented in the far-infrared (15–700 cm−1) from 10 K to room temperature for Cd1−xMnxTe alloys (x=0–0.64); this covers almost the entire composition range in which the cubic structure is stable. The results are interpreted in terms of the known phonon spectra of these materials, as determined from far-infrared reflectivity, neutron scattering, and Raman scattering measurements, and in terms of anharmonic effects due primarily to an impurity-induced disorder.

    Notizen: Abstract The far-infrared reflectivity spectra of KI doped with 1% Cl− and 2% Na+ were measured using a dual cavity technique. In addition to the observation of all previously-observed resonant and gap modes, several features were discovered in and near the optic band. A new gap mode at 90 cm−1 in KI:Cl− was discovered. In both systems sharp, narrow reductions in reflectivity at 98, 108, 116, and 139 cm−1 were observed, as was a general reduction in reflectivity between 108 and 139 cm−1. The structure at 98 and 116 cm−1 is most-likely due to optical activity induced in normally inactive lattice modes by the high concentration of impurities. The features at 108 and 139 cm−1 and the reduction in reflectivity between them were shown by a simple model calculation to be due to an increase in damping of the TO phonon.

    Notizen: Abstract We present infrared reflectivity measurements of the ab-plane response of Pb- and La-doped Bi 2 Sr 2 CuO 6+δ single crystals. A suppression of scattering rate is observed for La-doped samples below and above T c , suggestive of a pseudogap. Compared with double-layer Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+δ , the suppression is weak and appears at lower frequencies. This may reflect a weak pairing interaction and/or smaller gap amplitude.
