The corrosion of the aluminium/steel systemSince, contrary to theoretical expectation, the steel electrode of the pure aluminium/mild steel element in alum solutions shows an exceptionally high degree of corrosion, solubility tests were carried out with these materials in potassium-aluminium sulphate solutions of different concentration, as well as corrosion tests with the element Al/electrolyte steel in saturated potassium-aluminium sulphate solution (with open or short-circuited electrodes). The latter, in particular, explain the different behaviour of the metal combination and give a clear indication of the importance of kinetic questions for the clarification of corrosion phenomena.

Da die Stahl-Elektrode des Elementes Reinaluminium/Weichstahl In Alaunlösungen entgegen den theoretischen Erwartungen einen ungewöhnlich starken Angriff zeigt wurden Lößlichkeitsversuche mit diesen Werkstoffen in Kalium-Aluminiumsulphatlösungen verschiedener Konzentration sowie Korrosionsversuche mit den Element Al/Electrolyt/St in gesättigter Kalium-Aluminiumsulphatlösung (Elektroden offen bzw. kurzgeschlossen) durchgeführt. Insbesondere die letzteren erklären das abweichende Verhalten der Metallkombination und belegen sinnfällig die Bedeutung kinetischer Fragen bei der Aufklärung von Korrosionsvorgängen.
