    Description / Table of Contents: Pretreatment of metal parts for electrocoatingElectrocoating requires very careful pretreatment because surface defects and contaminations may have a very negative influence on coating quality (surface structure remains visible, decoloration of bright colors, in particular yellowing). Adhesion and corrosion resistance of the coatings are improved by phosphate coatings (on Fe, Al, Zn); Zn phosphate coats are most suitable on Fe and Zn, and Al phosphate coatings on Al. Coating thickness, however, must not be excessive. The accelerators added to the phosphating baths have a very pronounced bearing and should therefore be carefully selected. The phosphate coatings are partially (by 10%) dissolved in the electrophoretically applied coating.
    Notes: Das elektrophoretische Beschichten erfordert sehr sorgfältiges Arbeiten, da Oberflächenfehler und Verunreinigungen die Überzugsqualität stark beeinträchtigen können (Gefüge der Oberfläche wird sichtbar, Verfärbung, besonders heller Farbtöne). Die Haftfestigkeit und Korrosionsbeständigkeit wird durch Phosphatierungsschichten (auf Fe, Al, Zn) verbessert; am günstigsten sind für Fe und Zn die Zn-Phosphatschichten, für Al die Al-Phosphatschichten, jedoch nicht in zu großer Schichtdicke. Bei der Herstellung spielen die Beschleuniger eine große Rolle und sind sorgfältig auszuwählen. Die Phosphatüberzüge lösen sich teilweise (etwa 10%) in der elektrophoretisch aufgebrachten Beschichtung.
