Intramolecular Interactions of Triple Bonds, XIII. 1.2-Bis(3-phenyl-2-propynyl)benzene and Related Compounds1.2-Bis(3-phenyl-2-propynyl)benzene (2), the corresponding (1-oxo-3-phenylpropynyl) compound 9 and the dithia analogue 12 were synthesized. 1H n.m.r., u.v., i.r., and m.s. data are discussed with regard to intramolecular interactions between the triple bonds. 2, 9 and 12 undergo chemical reactions with cross-linkage of the triple bond atoms: thermal and photo-chemical isomerisations yielded 5-phenyl-6.11-dihydronaphthacene (3) from 2 and the corresponding naphthacenequinone 11 from 9; by reactions of 2 and 12 with iron pentacarbonyl the iron tricarbonyl complexes 4 and 20 of the carbonyl insertion products were obtained.By chromatography on basic aluminium oxide 2 rearranged - probably via the bis-allene 5 - to the isomeric trans-1.2-diphenylcyclobuta[b]naphthalene (6).Attempts to prepare 12 from 1.2-dimercaptobenzene and bromophenylacetylene produced compounds of the 1.4-benzodithiine and 1.3-benzodithiole series, the structures of which were determined, partially by independent syntheses.

1.2-Bis-[3-phenyl-propin-(2)-yl]-benzol (2), die entsprechende [1-Oxo-3-phenyl-propinyl]-Verbindung 9 und das Dithia-Analogon 12 wurden synthetisiert. 1H-NMR-, UV-, IR-und MS-Daten werden im Zusammenhang mit der intramolekularen Wechselwirkung zwischen den Dreifachbindungen dieser Verbindungen diskutiert. 2, 9 und 12 gehen chemische Reaktionen unter Verknüpfung der Dreifachbindungsatome ein: Thermische und photochemische Isomerisierungen gaben 5-Phenyl-6.11-dihydro-naphthacen (3) aus 2 und das entsprechende Naphthacenchinon 11 aus 9; Reaktion von 2 und 12 mit Eisenpentacarbonyl führte zu den Eisentricarbonyl-Komplexen 4 bzw. 20 der Carbonyleinschiebungs-Produkte.Durch Chromatographie an basischem Aluminiumoxid lagerte 2 - wahrscheinlich über das Bis-allen 5 - zum isomeren trans-1.2-Diphenyl-cyclobuta[b]naphthalin (6) um.Bei Versuchen zur Darstellung von 12 aus 1.2-Dimercapto-benzol und Brom-phenyl-acetylen wurden Verbindungen der 1.4-Benzodithiin- und 1.3-Benzodithiol-Reihe erhalten, deren Strukturen - z. T. durch unabhängige Synthesen - aufgeklärt wurden.
