Summary In 34 patients (17 compensated hypertensives and 17 patients with congestive failure) the oral application of 0.5 gm cyclopenthiazide over a period of 14 to 21 days resulted in a decrease of glomerular filtration rate of 14–17.5%, whereas renal plasma flow increased slightly. The decrease of GFR bore no correlation to changes of blood pressure, plasma volume and circulation time. It is assumed that a decrease in the arteriolar tonus of the vas efferens due to Na-depletion, could be responsible for the decrease of GFR as well as the increase in RPF.

Zusammenfassung Nach peroraler Thiazidverabfolgung wurde sowohl bei renalisierten Hypertonikern als auch plusdekompensierten Hypertonikern und Vitien eine Abnahme des Glomerulumfiltrates um 14–17,5% im Mittel beobachtet, die in keinem sicheren Zusammenhang mit der Abnahme des Plasmavolumens bzw. Abfall des arteriellen Blutdruckes stand. Der gleichzeitige Anstieg des Nierenplasmastromes weist auf intrarenale Tonusänderungen am Vas efferens hin, die in Anbetracht einer gleichzeitig gefundenen Erniedrigung des intraerythrocytären Natriums möglicherweise auf einem Abfall des intra-extracellulären Natriumgradienten beruht.
