Summary A case of acute promyelocytic leukemia is reported. At the beginning a leukopenia was found, death was caused by a rupture of the spleen. Unusual were the evolution of a typical consumption coagulopathy and an extreme elevation of leukocyte-LDH and acid phosphatase. The pathogenesis of these findings and the consequent therapy are discussed. The acute promyelocytic leukemia seems to be a specific form of leukemia.

Zusammenfassung Es wird über einen Fall mit akuter Promyelocytenleukämie mit leukopenischem Beginn und tödlicher Milzruptur berichtet. Ungewöhnlich erscheinen die Entwicklung einer typischen Verbrauchskoagulopathie und ein extremer Anstieg der Leukocyten-LDH und sauren Phosphatase im Serum. Auf die Pathogenese der Befunde und die sich daraus ergebende Behandlung wird näher eingegangen und darauf hingewiesen, daß die akute Promyelocytenleukämie eine besondere Leukoseform darstellt.
