Zusammenfassung Bei 98 Schafen wurde das vordere Kreuzband durch biologische oder/und synthetische Materialien ersetzt. Auf Grund der morphologischen und biomechanischen Ergebnisse werden gewisse Probleme der Prothesen vorgestellt: Design, Abrieb, Biokompatibilität, biologisches Einheilen und die Aussagekraft des makroskopischen Befundes im Vergleich mit biomechanischen Werten. Für die jeweiligen Prothesentypen spezifische Nachteile fordern eine strenge Indikationsstellung: die autologe Plastik erscheint immer noch überlegen.

Summary In 98 sheep, the anterior cruciate ligament was replaced by biological or/and synthetic materials. Some of the problems with the prostheses were demonstrated by means of morphological and biomechanical results: design, wear, biocompatibility, biological healing, and the relation between the macroscopic aspect and biomechanical values. Specific complications in each type of prosthesis require definite indications: autologous repair still seems to be the best.
