Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary At Klinikum rechts der Isar der TUM and Justus Liebig University at Gießen, regional, hyperthermic, and cytostatic perfusion is an established procedure. A total of 242 hyperthermic and cytostatic perfusions have been carried out. A temperature scale was chosen of between 40.5° and 41.0° C for 1— 2 h. The cytostatic agents used were: melphalan, actinomycin, cis-platin, dacarbazine, and N-lost. This therapeutic procedure is effective because of the cooperative effects between hyperthermia and cytostatic agents and the very high, local concentration levels of the cytostatic drugs. We noted 4 muscle necroses (2 amputations) and 20 neurological disorders that were mostly reversible. Operative lethality was zero.
