Summary It was examined, whether the same picture of peeled off epithelium in the stratum germinativum layer of the skin seen by the action of heat, whether this picture can be reproduced by pure mechanic action on the skin by rubbing. This was not possible by pure mechanical action. But if, on the other hand, the heat of friction produced by the machine used for rubbing, is not removed, one gets the picture seen in injuries caused by heat. By differential diagnosis one can, through the superficial structures, clearly differentiate the damage caused by the heat of friction from that caused by electrical or pure thermic heat. These differential diagnostic considerations appear to be necessary only in individual cases.

Zusammenfassung Es wurde untersucht, ob sich bei rein mechanischer Einwirkung auf die Haut durch Reiben das Bild der Epithelausziehungen im Stratum germinativum der Haut erzeugen läßt, das bei Wärmeeinwirkung beobachtet wird. Durch rein mechanische Einwirkung war dies nicht möglich. Wird dagegen maschinell erzeugte Reibungswärme nicht abgeführt, so tritt das Bild der Wärmeschädigung auf. Differentialdiagnostisch läßt sich aber eine infolge durch Reibung entstandene Wärmemarke durch die Oberflächenstruktur eindeutig gegen eine Strommarke oder rein thermische Marke abgrenzen. Die Notwendigkeit solcher differentialdiagnostischer Erwägungen dürfte nur in Einzelfällen auftauchen.
