Notes: Abstract The absorption coefficientsμ el andμ unel for fast electrons (30–50 keV) due to elastic and inelastic scattering in polycrystalline foils of Al, Ag and Au have been measured at various temperatures between 160 and 600 °K. It is shown that,μ unel decreases only slightly with temperature. On the other hand, the absorption coefficientμ el, which is composed ofμ R for Laue Bragg scattering andμ TDS for thermal diffuse scattering increases with temperature. Asμ R andμ TDS depend on temperature in opposite sense, the resulting increase ofμ el=μ R+μ TDS with temperature depends on the extent, to which the temperature dependence ofμ R is reduced by dynamical extinction effects. For Al the measured temperature dependence ofμ el is in good agreement with the theoretical calculation ofμ TDS on the basis of the Einstein model and ofμ R according to the two beam approximation of the dynamical theory. For Ag and Au the temperature dependence ofμ el is much more pronounced than for Al. This is due to the facts that for heavy elements firstly the elastic scattering is stronger and secondly dynamical extinction effects are generally more pronounced. In order to study the influence of dynamical extinction, the crystal size of the foils was varied.

Notes: Zusammenfassung 1.

Notes: Summary The authors have investigated the relationship between slow cortex-potential and subjective sensation. The tests were carried out on people with normal hearing. With monoaurale irritation, when double clicks with an interval of 20 msec applied, a surface-negative wave with a latency of 90–100 msec is showed with 2 peaks. The double impulses could just be differentiated. The results were explained as a confirmation of the close correlation between the subjective sensation of a negative wave and the slow cortex-potential.

Notes: The article describes the application of AE technique in control and evaluation of the pipeoverstraining process. The trials of overstraining were conducted according to a programme of pipeloading with internal pressure, developed and adjusted to the examined pipe material. In the studies two systems of acoustic emission were used, viz. PAC Mistras 2001 and VallenAMSY. The procedure adopted in the development of evaluation criteria based on an analysis of therecorded acoustic events was described. Next, the criteria of evaluation were presented. Theeffectiveness of the applied method, the validity of the adopted criteria, and the consistency of theobtained quantitative results were checked during tests performed by other NDT methods.A comparative analysis was made to serve as a complementary tool in final evaluation of the pipeoverstraining process done by AE technique

Description / Table of Contents: Summary We consider Regula-falsimethods applied to systems of equations in order to obtain sequences of upper and lower bounds for the solution of the system. It is shown that the sequences converge monotonously and the speed of convergence is better than linear.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary For equations in spaces of several dimensions classes of methods not involving derivatives are given which require only first-order divided differences. One interation step consists ofk stages each of them meaning the application of the modified regula falsi. The maximum of the efficiency index is shown to shift to greater values ofk with increasing dimension. The convergence of the methods is proved for simple zeros and sufficiently good initial values.
