Notes: [Auszug] The present communication deals with crystallization and several properties of the two components. Haemolyzate from chum salmon blood saturated with carbon monoxide, was 0-35 saturated with ammonium sulphate at neutral pH and suctioned. The nitrate was 0-6 saturated with the salt and the resulting ...

Notes: Summary A new, simple and fast procedure of measuring acrylonitrile (ACN) in ACN derived mercapturic acids such as S-(2-cyanoethyl)-L-cysteine(CyEC), and in hemoglobin (Hb) and plasma protein adducts and urinary metabolites in rats and humans exposed to ACN was developed. ACN in mercapturic acids or proteins was analyzed by capillary gas chromatography (GC) by liberating ACN at a high-temperature in the injector port of GC with or without oxidizing sulfur atoms of the ACN-bound cysteines into sulfoxide form by hydrogen peroxide in vitro. At 350 °C, more than 90% of ACN in authentic CyEC was recovered by this method. Increasing a single ip dose of ACN from 5 to 50 mg/kg produced proportional increases in ACN bound to Hb 24 hr after the treatment. The alkylation of plasma protein with ACN was about 1/10 as low as that of Hb. After repeated daily ip doses of 1–10 mg/kg, ACN in Hb decreased with a half-life of about 9 days. ACN was also detected in the blood of workers exposed to ACN for 1 to 10 years at a Siberian synthetic rubber factory.

I.C.I. 50172 und Methoxamin fehlt diese Wirkung.

Notes: Abstract The thermal conductivity of gases at high temperatures has been measured by the shock-tube method, which is uniquely suited to measure thermal conductivities of gases at high temperatures above 2000 K. A consistent set of thermal-conductivity data over a wide range of temperatures has been obtained from optimum combinations of shock-tube experiments at high temperatures, previously published data at lower temperatures, and a theoretical correlation of the temperature dependence. In the present study, the thermal conductivity of xenon-helium mixtures has been determined at compositions of 10 and 30 mol% xenon over the temperature range from 300 to 4800 K. Even though there is a large difference between the thermal conductivity of pure xenon and that of helium, it is interesting that the dependences of the thermal conductivity of the mixture on temperature and composition are linear. The experimental results are in good agreement with the predicted values based on the corresponding-states principle and the mixing rule. From these experimental results, interpolating the corresponding-states correlation data, we represent the equation of xenon-helium gas mixtures for thermal conductivity in terms of temperature and composition.

Notes: Abstract The viscoelasticity has been measured for aqueous solutions of tetradecyl-and hexadecyltrimethylammonium salicylates (C14TASal, C16TASal). The aqueous solutions of C14TASal without salt displayed the gel-like behavior at 10.0×10−2 g cm−3, but those more dilute than 3.2×10−2 g cm−3 presented the viscoelasticity similar to that of a Maxwell liquid. The Maxwell-like behavior was converted to the polymer-like one on the addition of (0.1–0.2) M NaBr or (0.02–0.2) M NaSal. The gel-like viscoelasticity can be connected with the spinnability of “cohesive fracture failure”, and the Maxwell-like and polymer-like viscoelasticities are concerned with the spinnability of “ductile failure”. The gel-like and Maxwell-like viscoelasticities originate in the pseudo-network formed by the pseudo-linkages between rodlike micelles, while the polymer-like viscoelasticity is caused by the entanglement of long rodlike micelles in semidilute and concentrated solutions. The aqueous solutions of C16TASal behaved very similar to those of C14TASal.

Notes: Abstract The spinnability was measured for aqueous viscoelastic solutions of tetradecyl- and hexadecyltrimethylammonium salicylates (C14TASal, C16TASal) in the absence and presence of sodium salicylate (NaSal) and sodium bromide (NaBr). The spinnability is classified into two types, D and C. While the intrinsic drawing length in type D is proportional to the drawing velocity, the drawing intrinsic length in type C decreases with the drawing velocity or is independent of it. The spinnability changes from type D to C, as the drawing velocity and the surfactant concentration increase, and the temperature lowers. The effect of salt is different between NaSal and NaBr. It can be assumed that a pseudo-network structure composed of rod-like micelles is formed in viscoelastic and spinnable surfactant solutions. Then, the spinnability depends on the balance between the elasticity and the viscosity in which the structure results.

Notes: Summary The effect of systemically administered phencyclidine (PCP) on the extracellular concentration of aspartate (Asp) and glutamate (Glu) in the rat anterior cingulate cortex was investigated using in vivo microdialysis. PCP significantly reduced the K+-evoked release of Asp and Glu, while it had no effect on the basal efflux of Asp and Glu. These results suggest that PCP might inhibit excitatory amino acid (EAA) release through an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor-mediated mechanism.
