    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Der Einfluß von sechs verschiedenen Weichmachern in der PVC-Matrix auf die Characteristica der Kalium-Valinomycin-Diskelektrode wird untersucht. Die Weichmacher, die selbst eine gewisse Kalium-Selektivität nach Konditionierung in einer KCl-Lösung zeigen, verändern die Selektivitätsverhältnisse, Potentialkonstanz, Potentialreproduzierbarkeit und andere Parameter in auffälliger Weise. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, daß eine Elektrodenoptimierung anwendungsbezogen erfolgen sollte.
    Notes: Summary The influence of six different plasticisers — added to the PVC-matrix — on the characteristics of the potassium-valinomycin disc electrode is investigated. The plasticisers, which themselves show some selectivity for potassium ions after treatment in KCl solution, change the selectivities, the stability and reproduction of potentials and other parameters in a striking way. It is pointed out, that an optimation of electrodes should be made with respect to application in practice.

Die Inkorporation dreier Weichmacher (Diphenyläther, Dinonylphthalat, Trisäthylhexylphosphat) in die PVC-Membran führt zu einer Elektrode, die wesentliche Funktionskriterien für eine Anwendung in der klinischen Analytik erfüllt.
    Notes: Summary Optimization of a potassium valinomycin disc electrode by adding a combination of several plasticisers is reported. Incorporation of three plasticisers (diphenyl ether, dinonyl phthalate, trisethylhexyl phosphate) into the PVC membrane results in an electrode, which has all qualities for application in clinical analysis.

Die Selektivität wird durch die aufgebrachte Carrier-PVC-Membran bestimmt, die zusätzlich Weichmacher zur Optimierung der Eigenschaften enthält.
    Notes: Summary Na+, K+, NH 4 + and Ca2+ selective electrodes have been developed by coating the ion-selective glass layer with a carrier PVC membrane. The glass is in contact with the conducting electrode through an inner electrolyte. The selectivity is determined by the PVC membrane, containing neutral carriers or electrically charged ligands and additionally plasticizers for optimizing the properties.

Das Ausmaß dieser Abhängigkeit sowie Potentialdriften werden von der Membrandicke und -konsistenz beeinflußt. Elektroden mit innerer Ag/AgCl/Metall-Ableitung sind nicht O2-abhängig. Zusätzlich zur O2-Unabhängigkeit zeichnen sich Elektroden mit Ag/AgCl/Pt-Ableitung durch hohe Potentialstabilität aus.
    Notes: Summary Diskelectrodes with direct contact of Pt, Ag or Cu wires to the ion-selective membrane show dependence of the potential on the partial pressure of oxygen. The extent of this dependence and drifts of the potential are affected by thickness and consistence of membranes. Electrodes with internal Ag/AgCl/metal lead are independent of oxygen. In addition, electrodes with Ag/AgCl/Pt lead are of remarkable stability of potential.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die OberflÄchenzusammensetzung von zwei verschiedenen Zeolith-Proben des Typs A und Kupfer-dotierten Proben dieses Zeoliths wurde mit Hilfe der Röntgenphotoelektronenspektroskopie (ESCA) untersucht. Das VerhÄltnis von Aluminium zu Silicium betrÄgt an der OberflÄche 0,66, was betrÄchtlich vom VerhÄltnis 1 dieser Elemente in der Gesamtprobe abweicht. Bei dem mit NaOH-Lösung gewaschenen Kupferdotierten Zeolith war die OberflÄchenkonzentration an Natrium und Kupfer im Vergleich zur Konzentration dieser Elemente bei den mit Wasser gewaschenen Proben ungewöhnlich hoch.
    Notes: Abstract The composition of the surface layer of two different samples of zeolite A and copper-doped zeolites of the Type A was examined with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The aluminium-silicon ratio in the surface layer is 0.66. There is a significant difference between the surface layer composition and the bulk composition. The aluminium-silicon ratio of the bulk material is nearly 1. The zeolite with copper doping which had been washed with NaOH solution, had a high concentration of sodium and copper in the surface layer, compared with the samples which had been washed with water.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Für die Na+-, K+- und Ca2+ -Bestimmung mit ionenselektiven Diskelektroden im medizinischen Bereich empfiehlt sich die Zweipunkteichung. Die mit diesem Verfahren erzielbare Reproduzierbarkeit wird theoretisch aufgrund des Ablesefehlers am Meßinstrument berechnet und mit experimentellen Werten verglichen. Die theoretisch berechneten und experimentellen Standardabweichungen liegen für 1-wertige Ionen bei 0,3 % und für 2-wertige bei 0,6 %. Die Genauigkeit wird nicht durch die Elektroden, sondern die gegenwärtig verfügbaren Meßgeräte begrenzt.
    Notes: Summary In clinical analysis it is recommendable to use a two-point calibration for the determination of Na+, K+ and Ca2+ ions by ion-selective disc electrodes. The accuracy, which can be obtained by this calibration method, is treated theoretically, and the results are compared with experimental data. Theoretical and experimental standard deviations are in very good agreement, with 0.3 % for Na+ and K+ and 0.6 % for Ca2+. The precision is limited by the measuring instrument and not by the disc electrodes.

Other sensors may also be used in this system, as e.g. pH-, gas-sensitive and enzyme electrodes.

Die gemessenen Potentialeinstellkurven dienen zur Berechnung von Diffusionskoeffizienten für O2 und H2. Eine exakte Beschreibung der experimentellen Befunde sollte das Auftreten von Mischpotentialen berücksichtigen.
    Notes: Summary The internal reference system of disk electrodes or coated-wire electrodes with direct contact of Pt wire to the ion-selective membrane can be described as a gaseous electrode. Under normal conditions there exists a Pt/O2-system, which can be transferred into a stable Pt/H2-system by saturating the solution with hydrogen. Several calculations of the diffusion of gas through the PVC-membrane are compared in order to get coefficients of diffusion for oxygen and hydrogen in ion-selective membranes. The results show that mixed potentials have to be taken into consideration.
