Summary For the determination of specific surfaces and microporosities the dynamic method with constant terminal voltage is used. An empirical equation is given which is useful to describe the experimental system. This is a very time consuming step. A derivation of an equation valid for the general case, using all experimental parameters as variables is possible if the following conditions are met: feeding with constant current and constant temperature of the walls of the heat conductivity detector. The experimental parameters, with the help of the equation, give the amount of gas and the evaluation of the maximum sensitivity. There is a difference for small sources between the theoretical model and the experiment due to diffusion. The coordination of the two experimental signals can be given with high accuracy by employing an approximation. Therefore the standardisation of the complete experimental system is reduced to three measurements.
Notes:
