Summary 4 to 5% of all tumors in childhood are lymphangiomas. During 16 years 26 lymphangiomas were seen at the University Children's Hospital of Cologne. Through the synopsis of 1000 cases from the literature, data are presented concerning localisation (neck: 40%, head: 19%, abdomen: 17%, thorax: 11%, upper extremity: 3%, lower extremity: 4%, genital organs: 4%), as well as clinical, symptomatology and therapy (operative: 68%, Radiation: 6.6%, scarrifying injections: 3.5%, spontaneous remission 0.5% as well as combination of above procedures). Besides 17 stillborn patients 112 children (11.2%) died. However, following introduction of chemotherapy the mortality of 290 patients operated upon after 1940 dropped to 3.4%. In our statistical material the prognosis quoad sanationem was limited by a relapse incidence of 16%.
