Notes: Abstract The spectrum of internal conversion electrons emitted by Ag110 after thermal-neutron capture was measured with the beta spectrometer at the research reactor near München. 45 conversion lines corresponding to 34 transitions were found between 0 keV and 300 keV. The multipolarities of 19 transitions were determined. The low-energy gamma radiation was investigated between 10 keV and 600 keV by means of a Ge(Li)-detector. A partial level scheme containing the most intense transitions is proposed.

Notes: Abstract The spectrum of internal conversion electrons emitted by Dy165 after thermal neutron capture was measured with the beta spectrometer at the reactor FRM. 225 conversion lines were found between 0 keV and 7 MeV. They correspond to 193 transitions. The multipolarities of most transitions were determined. The result of this measurement is in good agreement with the level scheme proposed bySchult et al. Eighteen additional levels with energies up to 3 MeV are proposed. A new 3/2−-rotational band with its band head at 1103.30 keV has been disclosed. The level scheme contains 39% of the complete decay of the capture state. The multipolarities of 6 transitions following the beta decay of Dy165 to Ho165 are given.

Notes: Abstract The (3He,d) and (α,t) single-proton transfer reactions on targets of152Sm,154Gd and156Gd were studied at 35MeV incident energy. Differential cross sections of rotational states built upon various single-proton configurations are compared with results of DWBA calculations which employed various radial form factors. The agreement between calculated and measured reaction cross sections is found to improve significantly when the commonly used spherical bound-state potentials are replaced by deformed ones, including deformed Coulomb and spin-orbit wells, and projected form factors are used to calculate DWBA cross sections. Discrepancies in the differential cross sections so large that they cannot be attributed to band mixing phenomena are readily explained by form factor effects.

Notes: Abstract We measured the internal conversion electrons of Au 198 following thermal neutron capture with a beta spectrometer. 130 lines were found between 1 keV and 7 MeV. The multipolarities of 81 lines were determined. A level scheme with 10 levels containing most of the intensive transitions is suggested.

Notes: Abstract The investigation of the odd-neutron nucleus235U and odd-proton nucleus237Np provides the possibility to study separately the alignment effects in thei 13/2 proton andj 15/2 neutron intruder states in the actinides. Using Coulomb excitation with208Pb projectiles we were able to extend the yrast bands up to the 57/2 levels in both cases. The experimental results consistently show — at least in the region of the rotational frequencies studied — the dominant role of thei 13/2 proton alignment, as well as the weakness of the interaction strength of thej 15/2 neutrons-configuration forN=144.

Notes: Abstract In a systematic study of nucleon transfer reactions accompanied by Coulomb excitation we have bombarded152Sm,160Gd and232Th with206, 208pb beams at incident energies close to the Coulomb barrier. Particle-gamma coincidence techniques were used to identify excited states of reaction products populated through inelastic scattering and in nucleon transfer reactions. One-neutron stripping and pick-up reactions on152Sm were observed leading to known states of the rotation alignedi 13/2-bands in153Sm and151Sm. In the160Gd+206, 208Pb systems no significant population of low lying states of product nuclei was found in the nucleon-transfer channels. Large cross sections were observed for one- and two-neutron pick-up from232Th at an incident energy of 6.4 MeV/u. Around the grazing angle they are of the same order of magnitude as the cross section measured for inelastic scattering. The results are analyzed in the framework of semiclassical models.

Notes: Abstract The233Th(3He,d)233Pa and233Th(α, t)233Pa reactions were studied with 28.5-MeV3He and 30-MeV α-particles, respectively. The reaction results are interpreted in terms of a distorted-wave Born-approximation analysis. Transferred angular momenta are deduced from (α, t) and (3He,d) cross-section ratios,R=dσ(α, t)/dσ(3He,d). Theoretical cross sections, calculated in the framework of the Nilsson model with pairing and Coriolis interactions included, are in reasonable agreement with experiment. Rotational bands built on the following Nilsson proton configurations are identified in233Pa: 1/2−[530↑], 3/2+[651↑], 1/2+[660↑], 5/2+[642↑], 5/2−[5231↓], and 3/2−[521↑].

    Notes: Abstract Coulomb excitation byα-particles of vibrational-like states in even-mass rare-earth nuclei is used to determine the reduced transition probabilitiesB(E2; 0 gs + →2 γ + ),B(E2; 0 gs + →2 β + ),B(E2; 2 gs + →0 β + ) andB(E2; 0 gs + →3 oct − ) in150Nd,152, 154Sm,154, 158Gd,164Dy and166Er. TheB(Eλ; 0 gs + →I=λ)-values range from 2.4 to 6.5 single-particle units for transitions to the 2 γ + -states, 0.8 single-particle units for the 2 β + -states and from 14.1 to 21.7 single-particle units for the 3−-states.
