Notes: Ultrastructural observations of principal cells of the epithelium lining of the proximal caput epididymis in experimental alcoholic albino rats at 180 days of treatment showed pyknotic nuclei, ill-defined cellular organelles and clusters of electrondense bodies, perhaps lysosomes. It was also verified for a progressive accumulation of lipid droplets initially in the basal and perinuclear cytoplasm and finally in the apical cytoplasm of principal cells at 60, 120 and 180 days of experimentation, respectively. The clear cells of alcoholic rats at 180 days showed the cytoplasm totally filled with lipid droplets. These findings were taken comparatively with the morphological features of the same epididymal cells in control (normal) rats.

Notes: The origin of the cranial and caudal adrenal arteries were studied in the white laboratory rat. Colored latex neoprene was utilized in this investigation. The adrenal arteries were found to arise from the caudal phrenic or adrenophrenic trunks. Variations in origin are discussed.

Notes: In the halves of heads of Brasilian adults of both sexes, the course of the N. glossopharyngeus through the Foramen jugulare, as well as its relations to surrounding anatomical elements were studied. Among 32 cases, there were 6 completely atypical situations which are described in the text and shown in the illustrations. There ist strong evidence that the usual descriptions of the text books cover only partially the real topography of this nerve.

Notes: Abstract The ex vivo effect of triflusal and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) on platelet interaction with the subendothelium using the Baumgartner perfusion system (wall shear rate 350 s−1) was assessed in blood from 10 healthy volunteers who given a 15-day course of triflusal 600 mg per day and ASA 400 mg per day in a crossover trial. The percentage of platelets on the subendothelium showed a decrease of 62% in samples from subjects on ASA and a decrease of 93% in those from subjects on triflusal (P〈0.005). The percentage of the subendothelial surface covered by platelets was reduced by 23.3% after treatment with ASA, mainly due to inhibition of aggregates (75.2%), and by 29.9% after treatment with triflusal, mainly due to inhibition of aggregates (89.6%) and of adhesion (25%). The subendothelial surface covered by activated platelets (adhesions and thrombi) showed 32.5% inhibition after treatment with triflusal and 11.6% after treatment with ASA (P〈0.043 vs. triflusal). In the in vitro experiments, 10 μmol·l−1 triflusal did not modify the percentage of the subendothelium covered by platelets. HTB 1 mmol·l−1 inhibited adhesion (26%) and aggregates (18%). We conclude that HTB participates in the ex vivo effects of triflusal on the platelet-subendothelium interaction.

Notes: Abstract We present an image of T Tauri N reconstructed from speckle interferometry observations made at the 3.6 m Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT). Two spectral windows, at Hα [6540-6580 Å] and red continuum [6580-6840 Å] were used. The star is unresolved in the continuum (θ ≤ 0″038), setting an upper limit for its size of ≤ 5.3 AU (assuming a 140 pc distance). At Hα (continuum subtracted) two components are observed, an unresolved one with 70% of the Hα flux and a resolved 0″106 × 0″043 (15 × 6 AU) with 30 %. The extended component is elongated in the North-South direction. The extended Hα component scale, it's non-detection in the continuum, and TTau Hα profile shape suggest that the extension is a disk corona.
