Notes: (La,Ca)MnOδ thin film can be used as a bolometer operated over a wide temperature range around its metal–semiconductor transition where its resistance (R) changes rapidly. This material has a high optical absorption coefficient over a broad wavelength range and is chemically stable in air. We measured the optical response of single-crystal (La,Ca)MnOδ thin films to a He–Ne laser (632.8 nm) as a function of temperature (T), light modulation frequency (f), bias current (I), and laser power (P). The temperature dependence of the measured signal follows the dR/dT curve and the signal depends linearly on I and P. These results indicate that the response is mainly bolometric. Room temperature operation is possible if the sample composition and oxygen stoichiometry are adjusted appropriately. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Abstract We describe the measurements of infrared detection in granular and epitaxial films of YBa2Cu3O7−δ . The experimental frequency response measurements stated that the response voltage of detector for epitaxial film decreased much more rapidly than that for granular film. Different relationship of infrared response and bias current for detectors from two types of films has been demonstrated. We attribute the descrapency to the characters of detectors associated with different types of film structures.

Notes: Abstract We report the optical responses of magnetic manganese oxide La2/3Ca1/3MnOδ thin films at room temperature. The voltage responses to a He-Ne laser at the wavelength of 0.63 μm and incident infrared (IR) power at the wavelength of 8-14 μm were measured. The measured signals were attributably to a bolometric response due to the heating of the sample by radiation. We report the optical responses in La2/3Ca1/3MnOδ thin films as a function of chopping frequency and bias current. The noise behavior around room temperature was also discussed. It is suggested that perovskite manganese oxide thin films are suitable candidates for uncooled optical detectors.
