Notes:
Summary Fulvic acids may be separated by gel filtration on Sephadex with simultaneous superposition of adsorption effects into various fractions. Diverse structural constituents are derived by combined application of colour reactions for the detection of functional groups. Phenolic hydroxyl groups, which are detectable in each fraction, are distinguished both in their mutual position and their position to other substituents or ring systems respectively. The high-molecular and slightly adsorbed portion of fulvic acids exhibits ketol structure, shows, however, neither hydroxyl functions in the ortho and para position nor strong acid groupings.
