Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary In our follow-up study on 52 patients after approximately 21 months, the lesions most frequently observed were lesions of articular cartilage of the knee. Primary injury to articular cartilage takes the form of contusion, impression or osteochondral fracture, from which chondromalacia patellae and traumatic osteochondrosis dissecans can develop. Latency of the symptoms was 1 to 2 years. We observed transplantation and the healing process under experimental conditions. The surgical procedure consisted in shaving down of the cartilage, excision of the osteochondral lesion, transplantation of cancellous bone or articular cartilage grafts, and ventral transposition of the tibial tubercle. Results are discussed.
