Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary It has been tried to isolateN. flavescens from the palatal region and the nasopharynx of 506 persons. One strain only could be traced on the mucosa of the nasopharynx of a soldier 20 years of age. The strain behaved biochemically typical, but produced some acid from maltose. In a specific antiserum it agglutinated weakly, probably because it grew in the R phase. Apparently,N. flavescens is a rare saprophyte of the nasopharyngeal mucosa.
