    Notes: Abstract The 4-pyrazoline-3-one1 reacts with 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde to yield the stable asymmetric cyanine dye2b which reacts with1 to give the colorless (aryl) (dipyrazolyl) methane3b. Using aldehydes with less cationstabilizing groups the polymethines2 are not isolated but only the methanes3. The structures of2b and3 are discussed by1 H,13C and Hetero NMR spectra.

Cyclohepta[c]pyrrole-6(2H)-thione, a Stable TropothioneCyclohepta[c]pyrrole-6(2H)-thiones (5) are synthesized in two ways from cyclohepta[c]pyrrole-6[2H]-ones (2). The thiones are characterized by reaction with methyl iodide, 9-diazo-1,8-diaza-fluorene (8), and diphenyldiazomethane (11), respectively. Dipole moments of 2 and 5 are reported, spectroscopic data of 5 and of some reaction products are discussed.
    Notes: Cyclohepta[c]pyrrol-6(2H)-one (2) lassen sich nach zwei Methoden in stabile Thioanaloge 5 überführen, die chemisch als Methoiodide 6 und durch Reaktion mit 9-Diazo-1,8-diazafluoren (8) bzw. Diphenyldiazomethan (11) charakterisiert werden können. Dipolmomente von 2 und 5 werden mitgeteilt, spektroskopische Daten von 5 und deren Folgeprodukte diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Reactions of Dimethyl 1,2,4,5-Tetrazine-3,6-dicarboxylate with NucleophilesThe reaction of water, ammonia or dimethylamine with the tetrazine 1 leads via 1,4-addition of the nucleophile to the hydrazide 4 and the azines 6, 7, respectively. Contrarily methylamine yields the triazine 13. Methanol or methanethiol react to the pyrazoles 19 and 18, respectively. The structure of 18 is proved by X-ray diffraction. Depending on the p-substituents, anilines give triazoles 22 or pyrazolo[3,4-e]triazines 24.
    Notes: Die Reaktion von Wasser, Ammoniak oder Dimethylamin mit dem Tetrazin 1 führt unter 1,4-Addition des Nucleophils zum Hydrazid 4 bzw. zu den Azinen 6 und 7. Mit Methylamin entsteht im Gegensatz dazu das Triazin 13. Methanol oder Methanthiol reagieren zu Pyrazolderivaten 19 bzw. 18. Die Struktur von 18 wird durch eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse belegt. para-Substituierte Aniline lassen sich je nach p-Substituent in Triazole 22 oder Pyrazolo[3,4-e]triazine 24 überführen.

Oxepin and 2,7-Dimethyloxepin as Dienophiles in Diels-Alder Cycloadditions with Inverse Electron DemandThe cycloaddition reactions of oxepin (1) with the tetrazine 3 and the triazine 12 yield the dihydrooxepino[4,5-d]pyridazine 5 and the oxepino[4,5-c]pyridine 13, resp., via [2 + 4] cycloaddition as well as the phthalazine 9 and the isoquinoline 14, resp., most probably via [6 + 4] cycloaddition. On the contrary, 2,7-dimethyloxepin (15) only gives the products 16 and 20, which result from [2 + 4] cycloaddition. Oxidation of 16 by silver(I) oxide leads to the oxepino[4,5-d]pyridazine 17, which as well as 20 in hydrochloric acid rearranges to the pseudoazulenes 19 and 21, resp.
    Notes: Cycloadditionsreaktionen von Oxepin (1) mit dem Tetrazin 3 oder dem Triazin 12 führen zum Dihydrooxepino[4,5-d]pyridazin 5 bzw. Oxepino[4,5-c]pyridin 13 via [2 + 4]-Cycloaddition und zum Phthalazin 9 bzw. Isochinolin 14 sehr wahrscheinlich via [6 + 4]-Cycloaddition. Mit 2,7-Dimethyloxepin (15) erhält man im Gegensatz dazu lediglich die Reaktionsprodukte 16 und 20, die aus der [2 + 4]-Cycloaddition resultieren. Durch Oxidation von 16 mit Silber(I)-oxid entsteht das Oxepino[4,5-d]pyridazin 17, das in Salzsäure ebenso wie 20 umgelagert wird in das Pseudoazulen 19 bzw. 21.

Condensation Reactions of Cyclohepta[c]pyrrol-6(2H)-one with Substituted Cyclopentadienes to Novel PentadecaazafulvalenesCondensation of the cyclopentadienes 5, 12, and 14, activated by electron-attracting substituents, with cyclohepta[c]pyrrol-6(2H)-one 6 by heating in acetic anhydride yields deeply coloured, potentially dipolar 6π-10π-systems, the cyclopentadienylidene-cyclohepta[c]pyrroles 7, 13, and 15. Their constitutions are determined by 1H NMR; typical spectroscopic data, especially characteristics of the electronic spectra, are discussed.
    Notes: Die durch elektronenziehende Substituenten aktivierten Cyclopentadiene 5, 12 und 14 lassen sich mit Cyclohepta[c]pyrrol-6(2H)-on 6 durch Erhitzen in Acetanhydrid zu den tieffarbigen, potentiell dipolaren 6π-10π-Systemen, den Cyclopentadienyliden-cyclohepta[c]pyrrolen 7, 13 und 15 kondensieren. Deren Konstitution wird durch 1H-NMR-Untersuchungen bestimmt, typische spektroskopische Daten, besonders das charakteristische Absorptionsverhalten in Elektronenspektren, werden diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Polycarbonyl Compounds, XXXI1) Sulfur and Selenium Analogues of Phenyl Substituted Deltic Acid Anions and Their DerivativesTreatment of the vinamidinium chloride 6 with the hydrogen sulfide or hydrogen selenide anion leads to the thio- and selenoamides 7 or 9, respectively, which are starting materials for the synthesis of novel C-3-pseudooxocarbons. They can be hydrolyzed in alkaline medium to the mixed oxo-thioxo-and oxo-selenoxocarbons 11 and 13, respectively, whereas sulfhydrolysis of 7 yields the thioxocarbon 15. All the new anions can be characterized by alkylation with methyl-iodide. Besides their spectral data, especially those from 13C-NMR measurements are discussed.
    Notes: Die Umsetzung des Vinamidinium-chlorids 6 mit Hydrogensulfid- oder -selenid-Anion als Nucleophil führt zu den Thio- bzw. Selenoamiden 7 bzw. 9, die als Edukte zur Synthese neuer, phenylsubstituierter C-3-Pseudooxokohlenstoffe dienen. Bei der alkalischen Hydrolyse entstehen gemischte Oxo-thioxo- bzw. Oxo-selenoxokohlenstoffe 11 bzw. 13, bei der Sulfhydrolyse Thioxokohlenstoffe 15, die durch Alkylierung mit Methyliodid charakterisiert werden. Daneben werden ihre spektroskopischen Daten, insbesondere aus 13C-NMR-Messungen, diskutiert.

Reactions of Diazo Compounds with ThiooxalatesDimethyl tetrathiooxalate (1) reacts with all diazo compounds 2 investigated to form 1,3-dithioles 3 in high yield. Complex mixtures of products, however, are obtained from O,O-dimethyl dithiooxalate (6) and diazo compounds. The reactions of 6 with diazomethane, diazoethane, 2-diazopropane and diphenyldiazomethane were investigated more in detail.
    Notes: Tetrathiooxalsäure-dimethylester (1) bildet mit allen untersuchten Diazoverbindungen 2 in einheitlicher Reaktion die 1,3-Dithiole 3. Komplexe Produktgemische entstehen hingegen bei der Umsetzung von Dithiooxalsäure-O, O-dimethylester (6) mit Diazoverbindungen. Näher untersucht wurde die Reaktion von 6 mit Diazomethan, Diazoethan, 2-Diazopropan und Diphenyl-diazomethan.

    Description / Table of Contents: Pseudooxocarbon Dianions of the C4-Series with Dicyanomethylene GroupsReaction of suitable activated squaric acid derivatives with the anion of malononitrile yields pseudooxocarbon dianions of the C4-series 5 - 9, in which the oxygens are successively replaced by one, two, three, or four dicyanomethylene groups. Besides the synthesis of mixed substituted pseudooxocarbon monoanions such as 11 and 21 is reported. Spectroscopic data are discussed, 13C NMR data together with those of pseudooxocarbon dianions of the C3- and C5-series. The structure of 9c is proved by X-ray diffraction and the cyclic bond-delocalized system compared with those of the squarate und tetrathiosquarate dianion.
    Notes: Durch Reaktion geeignet aktivierter Quadratsäurederivate mit dem Anion des Malononitrils werden Pseudooxokohelenstoff-Dianionen der C4-Reihe 5 - 9 synthetisiert, in denen die Sauerstofffunktionen sukzessive durch ein, zwei, drei oder vier Dicyanmethylenfunktionen ersetzt sind. Daneben wird über die Synthese gemischt substituierter Pseudooxokohlenstoff-Monoanionen wei 11 und 21 berichtet. Spektroskopische Daten werden diskutiert, 13C-NMR-Daten mit denen von Pseudooxokohlenstoff-Dianionen der C3-Reihe verglichen. Die Struktur von 9c wird durch eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse belegt und dessen cyclisches, bindungsdelokalisiertes System mit dem des Quadratats und des Tetrathioquadratats verglichen.

    Notes: Durch nucleophile Austauschreaktion mit Cyanamid/Triethylamin an 1 2-Dithioquadratsäurebis(dimethylamid) (6) entstehen das Cyaniminderivat 8 und die Thioquadraine 9 und 10. Aus der Sulfhydrolyse von 8 resultiert ein neuer schwefelhaltiger, delokalisierter “Pseudooxokohlenstoff” 22, dessen Alkylierung mit Methyliodid zu 26, überraschenderweise via intermolekularen Schwefeltransfer aber auch zum Tetrathioquadratsäureester 27 führt. Spektroskopische Daten, insbesondere 13C-NMR-Daten, werden mitgeteilt.
