This study reports the epidemiology of fractures a sports in Denmark. The ata are based on patients seen in casualty wards with a catchment area of 3% of the population in a 2-year registration period. A total of 4572 fractures were registered among the 26,347 sport injuries seen. Fractures among soccer players were most frequent, but motorcycle sport had the highest fracture incidence. The upper extremities suffered 62% of all fractures. Nine percent of the patients had to be admitted to hospital. Seventy-two percent of the patients needed further contact with the health system after the primary treatment in the casualty ward.
