Silyl Shift and Silyl Transfer Reactions in Phosphorus Ylid Chemistry1)The silylated ylids formed upon deprotonation of phosphonium cations undergo certain rearrangements with silyl shifts in cases, where the ylidic function initially is not or only partially associated with the silyl groups. By spontaneous site exchange of silyl cations and protons an optimum in stability of the ylidic function is thus achieved. From the results of reactions described here some general rules can be established for the course of such silyl shifts in ylids. - Silyl groups are easily transferred from an ylid (or its corresponding phosphonium salt) to another ylid, whereby the same rules can be applied. - The properties and p. m. r. spectra of a number of new ylids and phosphonium salts are reported.
Notes:
