    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Beim Erhitzen von 14-Brom-codeinon-dimethylacetal (1) in absol. Methanol mit einer äquivalenten Menge Na2CO3 entstehen die drei isomeren Methoxycodeinon-acetale3, 4 und5 sowie die beiden Indolino-codeinonderivate6 und7. Die Strukturen und Konfigurationen der Verbindungen3–6 werden auf Grund der NMR- und IR-Spektren sowie durch Umwandlung in bekannte Verbindungen bewiesen.
    Notes: Abstract 14-Bromocodeinone dimethyl acetal (1) reacts in methanol containing sodium carbonate (0.5 moles) to give the three isomeric methoxycodeinone acetals3, 4, and5 besides the indolino-codeinones6 and7. The structures and configurations of3–6 were established on the basis of NMR- and IR-spectroscopy and by conversion to known compounds.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung 14-Brom-codeinon-dimethylacetal (1), das mit LiAlH4 und NaBH4 nicht reagiert, liefert bei der Einwirkung von Natrium-bis-(2-methoxy-äthoxy)-aluminiumhydrid in Benzol Thebain (2) in guter Ausbeute. Zu dem gleichen Ergebnis führt die Umsetzung Chrom(II)-Salzen inDMF.
    Notes: Abstract The reaction of 14-Bromo-codeinone dimethyl acetal (1) with sodium-bis-(2-methoxyethoxy)-aluminium hydride in benzene leads to thebaine (2) in high yield. The same result is reached by the use of chromous sulfate in aqueousDMF. On the other hand1 is uneffected by LiAlH4 and NaBH4.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die beiden epimeren 7-Hydroxy-neopinon-dimethylacetale1 und2 gehen bereits unter den milden Bedingungen der Acetalhydrolyse in Δ(4) über. In Analogie zu dieser Reaktion liefert 7-Hydroxy-dihydro-codeinon-dimethylacetal (6) bei der Behandlung mit HCl den Sinomeninon-Antipoden (5), in 85proz. Ausbeute.
    Notes: Abstract The epimeric 7-hydroxy-neopinone-dimethylacetals1 and2, under the considerate conditions of acetal hydrolysis, are converted to 8(14)-7-oxo-thebainone (4). Similar treatment of 7-hydroxy-dihydro-codeinone-dimethylacetal (6) leads to (−)-sinomeninone (5), yield 85%.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die katalytische Hydrierung von 14-Brom-codeinondimethylacetal (2a) liefert in erster Linie die drei dimeren Neopinon-acetale (bd6,7) und8, sowie Neopinon-dimethylacetal (3b), Dihydro-codeinon-dimethylacetal (9) und (7R)-7-Hydroxyneopinon-dimethylacetal (10). Die Ausbeuten an Dimeren nehmen bei Vergrößerung des Reaktionsvolumens ab. Bei einer besonderen Ausführung der Hydrierung ist9 in 87proz. Ausbeute zugänglich. Die Strukturen und die Konfiguration an C-7 von6,7,8 und3b werden bewiesen und einige Umwandlungsprodukte beschrieben.
    Notes: Abstract The palladium-catalyzed hydrogenation of2a mainly leads to the new dimeric compounds6,7 and8, beside3b,9, and10. The yield of dimeric compounds is decreased by increasing the volume of the solvent. Under certain conditions9 in 87% yield is formed. The structures and the configuration on C-7 of3b,6,7, and8 are also derived.
