Summary 1. A short review of unidirectional multiply constrained cracking models is presented. 2. Differential equations for two-dimensional constrained cracking are derived based on the shear lag model and asymptotic analysis of long and short cracks is presented. Numerical results for straight and kinked cracks are presented, too. 3. Two methods of unidirectional multicracking analysis are generalized to a two-dimensional case in order to obtain the constrained crack patterns. A deterministic energetical approach is used to estimate the size of regular cracking cells. Stochastic crack patterns are obtained by multiple cracking process simulation.
