    Notes: We construct the superfield actions for degenerate (spin-reducing) multiplets of N=2 extended supersymmetry as integrals over all superspace. This requires the integration over the two available central charges as well. We evaluate the detailed component contributions to these actions and show they are total derivatives with respect to central charge dimensions. The resulting spectrum of the theories are analyzed in four dimensions in terms of various boundary conditions in the higher dimensions and the nature of the integration domain.

    Notes: SUSY algebras, in d=4 and 11, are analyzed, extended by the addition of both spinorial and bosonic central charge generators. It is found that only limited extensions are possible, on use of Jacobi identities. Casimirs, irreps, and spin reduction are discussed, and the problems of constructing actions for SUSY and supergravity theories as full superspace actions are considered.

    Notes: Abstract The self dual condition in superspace is analysed forN=1,2,4 super Yang-Mills theories. A complete solution of all the constraints in terms of a light cone superfieldJ is presented, where the only equation thatJ satisfies is a SUSY generalization of the Yang equation. By reduction of that equation we obtain various two dimensional SUSY models. We introduce the associated linear problem in terms ofJ, whose integrability condition gives us back the super Yang equation and allows us to obtain the Kac-Moody algebra structure of the theory.

    Notes: Abstract A detailed analysis is given of the two main types of degeneration of Riemann surface of arbitrary genus by domain variational theory. Explicit estimates for first and third Abelian functions are given. These estimates are used to analyse the possible divergences of type II or heterotic superstring multiloop amplitudes for the scattering of massless particles. They are all shown to be finite at arbitrary loop order.

    Notes: Abstract The properties that make theN=4 super Yang-Mills theory free from ultraviolet divergences are (i) a universal coupling for gauge and matter interactions, (ii) anomaly-free representations, (iii) no charge renormalization, and (iv) if masses are explicitly introduced into the theory, then these are required to satisfy the mass-squared supertrace sum rule ∑s=0,1/2(−1)2s+1(2s+1)M s 2 =0. FiniteN=2 theories are found to satisfy the above criteria. The missing member in this class of field theories are finite field theories consisting ofN=1 superfields. These theories are discussed in the light of the above finiteness properties. In particular, the representations of all simple classical groups satisfying the anomaly-free and no-charge renormalization conditions for finiteN=1 field theories are discussed. A consequence of these restrictions on the allowed representations is that anN=1 finiteSU (5)-based model of strong and electroweak interactions can contain at most five conventional families of quarks and leptons, a constraint almost compatible with the one deduced from cosmological arguments.

    Notes: Abstract The cosmological effects of thermal masses of particles (masses induced via interactions at nonzero temperature) as well as ordinary masses are studied. These effects are shown to be negligible for photons. For electrons, however, they modify the dependence of the universe's radiusR and the timet on temperature.
