Notes: (100) silicon molecular beam epitaxy films with etch pit densities below 103 cm−2 and χmin values of 3.3–3.9% were grown at very low temperatures (Ts =250–350 °C). Although dopant activation is significantly below unity at n=1018 Sb atoms/cm3 Hall mobilities of homogeneously Sb-doped samples (Ts =250 °C, 300 °C) are found to match reasonably bulk values. δ doping at a monolayer Sb deposition shows a dopant activation of 0.45–0.81 with no detectable broadening at Ts =200 °C.

Notes: In spreading resistance analysis, which is a method usually employed in doping profiling, carrier spilling effects become evident in doping structures in the 0.1-μm range. Profiles from spreading resistance analysis with such thin layers are to be interpreted rather in terms of "on bevel'' carrier distribution than as actual doping profiles. Due to specific boundary conditions introduced by beveling, carrier spilling decisively depends on whether high-low or low-high transitions are considered. Using sample mounting both in standard and in upside down configuration high resolution of high-low as well as low-high transition is achieved.

Notes: Nine European varieties of winter beans (Vicia faba L- var. minor and equina), pre-germinated at 20°C and raised at 15°C until plant emergence, were hardened at 8/2°C (day/night) for severals week;, and then “dehardened” at 15°C or 10°C.Development and varietal expression of freezing resistance (FR). und of several characters generally supposed to be linked with winterhardness, were examined during hardening and dehardening. Alter 5 weeks of hardening, most leaf traits remained constant while growth of plants and development of new leaves continued slowly. At the onset of dehardening FR and DM-content of tissue decreased, whereas most traits increased, rapidely or were enhanced considerably resulting in positive or negative phenotypical correlations of the traits with FR.With respect to winterhardiness, the old French landrace ‘Cote d'Or’ had the most advantages for almost each trait compared to the other varieties tested, Genotypic correlations established among leaf and plant traits, and with FR, might allow a limitation of the number of selection criteria for winterhardness. Even the laborious determinations of FR. might be omitted or minimized, since its genotypic variation was determined to 64 % by the variation in the rate of development, the change in height and water/D:M- ratio, and the leaf area. The validity of a winterhardness ideotype and the restrictions which havt1 to be considered with respect to the measurement of the proposed selection criteria are discussed.

Notes: Abstract In order to evaluate the influence of physical and instrumental limitations of the PET technique on metabolic data, various parameters have been tested. The measurements were done with a whole body PET scanner PC4096-15WB. The dependence on the transaxial resolution of reconstruction filter cut off frequency αc was investigated. The high resolution (4.8 mm atr=0) in the field of view) and the low scatter fraction (〈5%) of this system yields a higher grey/white matter ratio (3.8:1) than that found with older scanners (2:1). The use of a rotating pin source allows transmission scans to be performed after tracer administration with an error of less than 5%.
