    Notizen: The scan drive of a stepper motor, signal detection and data processing of the recorded Raman signals were controlled by a compatible IBM-PC/XT which was connected to a Jarrell–Ash 25-400 spectrometer. Excitation source fluctuations were eliminated by the simultaneous detection of a small portion of laser light. This reference and the Raman signals were transmitted to the 8-bit parallel port of the IBM by multiplexing. The parallel port was modified to bidirectional data transfer so that control and signal processing required only one port.

    Notizen: Diagnostic data acquisition on Princeton's tokamak fusion test reactor (TFTR) is accomplished via CAMAC (computer automated measurement and control system). This paper describes the capabilities of this instrumentation technique as applied to TFTR diagnostics and presents the family of CAMAC modules and equipment necessary for TFTR data acquisition and process control. These modules provide system configurations that range from meeting the basic requirements of digital and analog input/output to the requirements of transient digitizers, scalars, histogramming memory controller (each with add-on memory storage), timing and sequencing and timed gate units, function generators, and microprocessor interface units. The applications and guidelines that have evolved from our experience with TFTR CAMAC are presented.

    Notizen: The design and operation of instrumentation included in the gas injection system of the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) for torus pressure and gas flow measurements are described. Magnetically shielded ion gauges, located on the torus boundary, are used for fast (1 kHz) torus pressure measurements over the range 10−7–10−3 Torr. Gas injection assemblies comprising an array of piezoelectric gas injection valves are situated at three toroidal locations. The gas injection valves are programmed for various discharge conditions including feedback control from the torus pressure gauges and plasma density measurement. Gas flow through the injection valves is monitored by strain-gauge-type pressure transducers on each injection valve. The resulting gas flow measurements are used for gas fueling, particle balance, and recycling studies.

    Notizen: The conceptual design of the data handling system for the Compact Ignition Tokamak (CIT) takes advantage of the recent and upcoming advances in the technologies of database management systems, workstations, networking, and front-end processing. The software configuration of a diagnostic's front-end signal conditioning, data acquisition, and data reduction by means of filling in tables and specifying "objects'' for the data transformations will provide a more powerful tool for efficient application "programming.'' The maintenance of an audit trail of chains of transformations (input data and processes) will permit identification and recalculation of results which are affected by modifications of calibrations and processing.

    Notizen: Abstract Angular and energy correlations betweenα-particles and deep-inelastic projectile-like fragments were measured for the system36Ar+197Au atE Lab=380 MeV. At most half of the coincident events can be attributed to statistical emission ofα-particles from the fully accelerated projectile-like fragments. The remainder of the events may be due to direct emission during the first 10−22 s of the scattering process and to preequilibrium processes taking place within some 10−21 s.
