Description / Table of Contents: Es werden die Synthese und Eigenschaften eines Resacetophenon (2,4-Dihydroxiacetophenon)-Formaldehyd Harzes beschrieben.
Notes: Synthesis and properties of a resacetophenone-formaldehyde resin are described. The number average molecular weight of the resin determined by vapour pressure osmometry and nonaqueous conductometric titration is 2500 and 2200 g/mol, respectively.Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) chelates of the resin were prepared. The elemental analysis of chelates indicated a metal to ligand ratio 1:2. From the diffuse reflectance spectra of the chelates it could be concluded that Ni(II) and Co(II) chelates have a tetrahedral structure while Cu(II) chelate has a square planar structure. Infrared spectral studies showed that the metals are co-ordinated through the oxygen of the carbonyl and phenolic groups. The presence of methylene bridges was also indicated from IR spectral studies. The thermal properties of the resin and its metal chelates are discussed.

Notes: Abstract The film formation method has been successfully used to grow single crystals and other complex morphological features of low melting form (LMF) and high melting form (HMF) of trans-1,4-polyisoprene (TPIP). Below 40 °C dilute amyl acetate solution gave hexagonal shaped LMF crystals. Thick and elongated hexagonal shaped morphology was shown by HMF crystals at temperatures above 40 °C. Straight faces and sharp corners of the single crystals, and also of complex crystals, acquired round shapes when highly polydispersed TPIP was used for crystallization.

Notes: Summary Field experiment was conducted to show the effect of one irrigation of 10 cm water applied to durum wheat (Triticum durum) at crown root initiation stage, active tillering stage, anthesis stage and compared them with non irrigated plot using A-206, A-28, A-1-8-8-42-1, G.W.-1 and A-23-10 genotypes under the conditions of salt affected areas having shallow saline aquifer, on quality, yield and mottling phenomena in wheat grain. Application of irrigation significantly increased the yield and decreased the per cent mottled grain and the maximum achievement was obtained when water was applied during the stage of anthesis. Non mottled grain contained higher protein than mottled grain and there were no considerable differences in other biochemical constituents. Genotype G.W.-1 stands first in its yield performance and low mottled grain.

Notes: Coordination polymers of copper, nickel, cobalt, manganese, and zinc with poly(Schiff base) derived from 5,5'-methylene-bis-salicylaldehyde and 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane have been prepared. Elemental analysis, magnetic, spectral, and thermal properties, and electrical conductivities of the chelates have been studied and probable structures assigned to the chelates. The analytical data propose a [ML]n formula for the chelates. The site of coordination of the ligand with metal ions has been elucidated by comparing the IR spectra of the ligand and polychelates. All the polychelates are stable and insoluble in common solvents.

Description / Table of Contents: Polymere Metallkomplexe aus 3,3′-Benzidindicarbonsäure und den bivalenten Metallionen Kupfer, Nickel, Kobalt, Zink und Mangan wurden synthetisiert; ihre Eigenschaften, Zusammensetzung, IR-Spektren und magnetische Suszeptibilität wurden untersucht.
Notes: Polymeric metal complexes of 3,3′-benzidine dicarboxylic acid with bivalent metal ions such as copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc and manganese have been synthesized and their properties, composition, IR-absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibilities were investigated. The coloured, powderly solids were obtained by refluxing the metal acetate and the ligand in the appropriate ratio for about half an hour and dried at 110°C. The compounds are stable and insoluble in common solvents. The analytical data indicate the general formula, [ML]n for Cu(II), Mn(II) and [M4L5]n for Ni(II), Co(II) and Zn(II). The mode of coordination of the ligand with metal ions has been elucidated by comparing IR spectra of the ligand and the complexes. A polymeric structure is proposed for the complexes.
