Notes:
Summary At present the local application of a streptokinase-streptodornase (SK-SD) solution is proposed to prevent intraperitoneal adhesions. Possible side effects of such a therapy, particularly on wound-healing in the intestine and systemic reactions, were investigated experimentally in rats and rabbits. With the doses used, no impaired wound-healing was observed in micromorphological and SEM studies or when testing stress capacity (bursting and tensile strength). An initial rise in body temperature and an increasing ASK titer were observed. SK-SD seems to reduce the formation of intraperitoneal adhesions.
